These past few days have been a whirlwind. It all started last Wednesday morning, May 7th, when I woke before work to search for an appointment on line. I had been upset because I had completed all the steps just to find out we had to wait what seemed like forever for an interview appointment. But that morning there was an appointment available for May 13. Without even thinking I jumped on it. Then realized how crazy this was. So I talked with my fiancé and we decided we could try it, this was Wednesday evening for her. I went on-line and arranged a hotel room for eight days, just in case, and a ticket for her and her niece to fly from Davao to Manila. Thursday morning she woke up early and took the 3 – 4 hour trip up from her home town of Malita up to Davao. They flew into Manila Thursday evening and were in line at St. Luke’s the next morning at 5:00 am. The medical went well and she told them her appointment was next Tuesday on the 13th. They told her to return for a final vaccine on Monday and gave her a sealed package to carry with her to the interview. Of all the stories I have read her on VJ that is the first time I had heard of that. She received the package I had sent Monday afternoon and was ready to go. So here is the description she gave me on Skype this morning.
Arrived at the consulate at 5:00 am
Her appointment was at 7:30, lucky number #6167
She was let into the consulate around 6:20 am and found her niece was not allowed to wait with her.
She received her lucky number 6167 and sat down to wait.
She did the biometrics at 8:00
Next came the Filipino council at 9:00 am. She said he asked her a lot of questions.
1. How many times was your fiancé married? (1)
2. How old are your fiancés daughters? She said 26 but my youngest daughter is actually 23
3. What is your fiancés job? Teacher, math
4. Have you ever worked abroad? no
4. Do you have any kids? no
5. Have you ever applied for a US VISA before? no
6. Have you ever traveled abroad?
7. Where did you meet your fiancé and how many times have you met in person?
Next came the female American counsel at 11:00 am
We had met on the website of Cherry Blossom and I had included copies of each of our profiles for proof of relationship.
1. She had read our profiles because she noticed I did not desire any more children while fiancé had noted she did desire children. We had discussed this early on and she said because of her age she did not think that having a child would be healthy. That she had not changed this since she had originally signed on to the site and completed her profile.
Then the consulate asked again, “Are you sure you do not want any kids”, she replied “Yes maam.”
2. The consulate asked about my height and she said 6’ 2”. The consulate said “He is very tall.”
3. The last question was if I owned my house and she said yes maam.
“Okay, fine, congratulations, welcome to the USA!”javascript:emoticon(' ')
My fiancé had to return after lunch to be released but she was so happy.
Okay fine, congratulations welcome to USA
Had to wait till after lunch break to get the released but we had done this all in less than a week, so praise God, it can be done!javascript:emoticon(' ')
