We arrived at the embassy about 10:15 am. Our interview was scheduled for 12. The security personnel called us to enter the embassy around 11:15 am. At the entrance we were asked to present our interview letter and our passports.
Once inside, we presented another man our interview letter again and the DS-260 confirmation page with the stamp from the OFC biometrics appointment. He asked me one question: Are you the petitioner? and asked my husband one question: How long have you been married? He then gave us a token number and pointed us to the waiting area.
When our token number was called, we went to a window with an Indian man. We handed him the medical report, DS-260 confirmation page with stamp, PCCs, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. He asked me if I was the petitioner.
He then asked my husband several questions:
Who is calling you?
What is her name:
What is your DOB?
What is your mobile number?
You went to UK?
Have you lived in any other countries?
I asked him if he would like to see my financial documents as we were asked to bring updated information to the interview. He looked at everything quickly and focused on our 2013 joint tax return. He highlighted some information, kept my husband's passport and told us to sit down and that our token number would be called when it was time for the interview with the CO.
After about 20 minutes, our token number was called and we presented ourselves in front of the CO, a young American woman.
She asked my husband to raise his right hand and take the oath then she began her questions.
Asked to my husband:
How did you meet your wife?
Where was that?
When was that?
Is this your first IV request? (she commented on how large our file was. I had frontloaded a great deal.)
Have you eve been to the U.S.?
On which type of visa?
What were you doing on your J-1?
What type of program was it?
How long did you stay in the U.S.?
Have you met your wife's parents?
How many times?
Tell me about your mother in law and father in law's personalities.
Does your wife have any brothers or sisters?
What is her brother's occupation?
Where does he live?
So you have been to the UK before?
For how long?
What were you doing there?
How long have you been married?
What was the date of your wedding?
Why aren't you wearing a wedding ring? (He is but he wears on his middle finger because he lost a bunch of weight!)
How many people came to your wedding?
Why so few?
How many came to your reception?
What is your favorite thing to cook?
She then turned to me and asked me the following questions:
Did you get married on your first trip to India?
Where was your marriage?
How many times have you been to India since your marriage?
How many times have you been to India before your marriage?
Have you been on any vacations together?
Where do you stay when you are in India?
Tell me about your mother in law.
What kinds of foods do you cook with her?
She then said your visa has been approved! The whole time hubby and I were feeling a bit nervous since she was asking so many questions.
Overall it was a pleasant experience and all staff members treated us nicely and professionally.
