I just want to thank VJ for their guides and everyone posting their experiences on here.

I stayed at the Travelodge 3 blocks down the street. I arrived outside the consulate at 7:45 and already there were 6 people in front of me. The lady asked that we had our passport, interview confirmation and the DS-160 confirmation out. She checked everything and I headed in but make sure you wait until the security guard calls you in (they are a bit blunt and will ask you "did anyone call you in?" if you weren't called in to the security area).

After the security I headed down the stairs where there are sets of chairs and already there were about 20 people sitting around the elevator door. I didn't want to sit behind other people so I opt for one along the walls so it would be easier to get up and walk to the elevator instead of having to wait for the person in front to get up. about 15 mins later all the sits in that area were filled and one of the security guard came down and this was my cue to stand up. once he said you may enter the elevator I was 3rd in and knew right where to stand (far back to the left, thanks to VJ). Then we headed up to the 19th floor where we met a greeter and make sure to have your passport and confirmation just like how you arrived outside the consulate ready to be handed over. then she will give you a number.

I got A3. waited for about 15 mins to be called to hand in my medical exam, passport, affidavit of support along with the proof of income, birth certificate, police certificate and etc. then finger prints and was told to have a sit. the next step was waiting for about 20 mins then I was called in for the interview. I was asked how we met, how we stayed in touch, how often we talk, if we were ever married, if we had any kids and where we worked. She then said Im going to approve your visa but give me a few minutes to jot some notes down and then gave me the welcome to America paper! The whole process took an hour, my appointment was for 8 and I was out of there by 9.

Thanks to VJ I was prepared and follower VJers for their insight that I saved some time from being behind 10-15 people to being 3rd, thank you.
