I’m writing this for my fiancé and didn’t attend the interview with him. He stayed at the Lincoln House Hotel just up from the Embassy and said the location made getting there the morning of his interview easy. He arrived at 0745 to a very long line outside.

The entry was just as described by other members and a relatively straight forward. After about 2 hours, he was called for the first portion of his interview. He was asked for his DS-160 receipt, passport, birth certificate, police certificates (he had several due to diplomatic service), both of our divorce documents (translations for his), Affidavit of Support and supporting documents. The young man thanked him for having everything in order, took his fingerprints, handed him his chest x-ray and told him he would be called for the actual interview next and to have a seat .

He waited about 90 minutes before being called again. At this point, he went under oath and his fingerprints were taken again. He was asked how where and when we met, what I did for a living, what were the letters I signed after my name for my work (I’m a nurse), where I studied ( I studied at 3 different Universities and we’d never discussed this), how many times he’d been to the US (3), how many times I’d been the UK to see him (10!). After he finished answering the questions, the man said this was a very expensive relationship and was pleased to inform my fiancé that his visa was approved and our bank accounts could now have a rest. Ha! He also told my fiancé he’d have his visa in about 10 days. In all, my fiance said the interview was relaxed and pleasant.

He was there just shy of 4 hours.
