Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Got there at 7:30 for our 8am appointment. We didn't get called until 8:15. I guess the person who interviewed us was reviewing our file because we saw him come to the desk before 8am and then take the file back. We had four books with us. A book of supporting evidence, copies of both the I-485 package and I-130 package, a general photo album, and our wedding album. The guy had us raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. Then he asked for identification.

Then he started asking the following questions to my wife(the petitioner).
What's your address?
How many rooms in your apartment?
Have you ever been in the U.S. before? and ever been deported?
Are you working?
Have you ever been convicted of fellony, arrested, a prostitute, ..etc.

He asked me one question.
When did I meet my wife?

My wife answered No to all the questions. Then he asked one last question.

Why didn't you file for a marriage visa? My wife answered because the last time she visited she just came to visit. Not to get married.

The guy then started filling out paperwork and we were approved. He gave us a form and I asked about the I-551 stamp and he said they don't do that anymore unless we have proof that we need to travel.

He never even looked at our books. Interview was over in 15 minutes. The guy was not friendly at all, which made it hard. But it was quick.
