While the process was long and rather boring, it all went very smoothly and the staff were direct, informative and helpful.
For anyone going in here are a handful of pointers:
1, if your US resident fiance is in-country, call a week in advance and add them to the visitor list. With a passport, they can come in and wait with you (and help carry all the papers and info!) offering moral support and someone to talk to during the long wait, even if they can't come into the interview space with you.
2, you can't bring a big bag or phones or laptops(it's sort of like airport security when going in), but we brought a big bottle of water a book and a packet of snacks in our hands and it made all the difference during the wait (about 3 hours on the day we went).
3, you can ask questions during the interview -- this helped us feel clearer about our next steps and what will happen at the border when we could talk to someone face-to-face
