My husband and I had our interviews scheduled for 8:00 am. We arrived at the Embassy at 7:20 and there were quite a few people queuing up already, but the line was moving well. Once we'd had our names ticked off by the lady at the front of the left hand queue, we joined the back of the right hand queue. This line moved quickly and we were soon at the front and called over to the security guard to check our passports. Then we joined the smaller queue to go through security. We had left all our electronic things in our suitcase at the hotel, so no problems there, and we had put our watches in my handbag, and Derek wasn't wearing a belt - so no problem through security.
Then round to the right and into the Embassy to get a number - we had 1 number for both of us - I903. We sat down in the waiting room at around 7:50 and had been called to window 13 by 8:05. It took about 20 mins for the lovely lady to confirm all our documents and return our x-rays (which you have to have with you when you enter the US). So by 8:25 our fingerprints had been taken and we were sent back to wait again.
At 9:20 we were called to window 15 and another lovely lady. She returned all our original documents (birth and marriage certificates) and asked us to confirm our current address. We swore that all the information we gave was accurate to our best ability and gave our fingerprints again. Then we signed our DS230 forms (even though in September we had been instructed to complete the online DS260, which we had done, it was the paper version we had to sign).
And that was that. Approved. We were completed by 9:25.
