Consulate / USCIS Member Review #12959

Montreal, Canada Review on October 7, 2013:

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We followed all of the guides and stayed around the corner from the consulate at Le Square Phillips. Very nice rooms and was <5 minute walk to the consulate the morning of our interview. We arrived at 0630 and were the first, maybe 5 minutes later two other folks joined us. We were standing on the left, and for a brief bit the line split in two, but eventually they all came back to our side

Like clockwork they turned the lights on at 0730 and we were the first into security, verifying our Loomis information / passport getting a sticker, and we went through the checkpoint. The maps are pretty accurate, we went down stairs to our left, then found our way to the chairs by the elevator. Only 6 folks at this time! Once inside the elevator, at 0800 on the nose, we moved to the back left and faced the opposing set of doors. Only one other person realized which way to face.

You can follow the tiny yellow arrows on the floor around to the left to the sign which says to wait for 14A/14B for your number. We waited about 5 minutes with nobody at the window when C1 was called overhead...so another gentleman went and told them nobody was handing out tickets! At ~08:10 we got the coveted C1 ticket and went to Window 1.....only to find that computer wouldn't complete a K1 case. This is what happens to a software engineer.

The lady asked us to meet her at Window 6, where she completed checking our paperwork and took Allanah's fingerprints. Then at about 08:40 we finished this bit up and waited on our interview. The interview took about 5 minutes in total, mostly small talk after Allanah read the oath, and then we received the Welcome to the United States letter!

When we walked outside, the church bells were ringing 0900.
