Montreal Consulate Review: September 11th 2013

I was travelling from the GTA and decided that I would take Porter Airlines and try it out. I flew with my Father who decided this would be a nice last father son trip for a long while. Getting into the airport and onto the 747 Bus into the down town was very easy $9. The Hotel we decided on was the Holiday Inn Select on rue Vigor. I had stayed there before and knew the quality of the hotel. Also it's a short walk to the consulate and right across from a Metro station. We took the 747 and got off at the first Metro and took it to the hotel $3. The hotel was $124/ night with late check out and bag storage, breakfast for a fee.

At night the hotel is a two minuet walk up the hill to old fort (Montreal) with many bars and restaurants to eat. We had something early on, walked around some shops and was in bed by 10pm.

The Morning:
I woke up at 5:30 (i'm a guy) and began to get ready. Shower, shave, dress. I made the hotel coffee while I did this. I was all set to go by 6:15. My dad offered to get a coffee and bagel with me at the Tim's beside the Metro.
At 6:45 I left and started walking to the consulate.

Funny how attached to our technology we are; as I was walking I was trying to mentally recall the way to walk from the map I had pulled up on my browser in the hotel. I found mm way to Renee Levec and Sait Alexandre but I walked right passed the doors. I figured it would be more obvious than it was. After rounding the building once I was in front of the doors by 6:59.
Two minuets later a taxi rolled up with person number 2.
At 7:38 they opened the front doors and open by one we were let inside. A lady took my confirmation sheet with Loomis address and put a sticker on my passport. After the security I used my VJ knowledge and knew to sit as close to the elevator as possible as other people made their way into the area they followed. At 8:01 the guard came down and put us all in the elevator. I again went to the back left spot. When the door opened I was the first person in line for the C ticket.
After a short wait we were called up to the first booth where a lady took my paperwork and fingerprints. I was told to sit back down and wait to be called again. When I was called I spoke to another lady who made me swear an oath that all the information was mine. and that was it. I walked in on my dad who had gone back to sleep in the room. He was amazed it was so fast.

The CSC website never changed for me regarding my weigh bill. The other status tracking site said my VISA was issued on the 13th. The 16th i was notified it was on its way from Montreal. VISA in hand September 17th.

Good luck everyone
