Our Interview was on Friday September the 13th, we arrived in Montreal on Wednesday night and stayed at the Days Inn downtown. It was a relatively nice hotel, they are in the middle of renovations currently. It is a 10 minute walk from the consulate, as well as 10 minutes from Old Montreal and a huge shopping mall. If you have the luxury we recommend touring this beautiful city, I was so happy that we had a full day to walk around and see the sights.

Friday morning we left the hotel at 6:45am and made our way to the consulate. We were 2nd in line to a VJ member who just wrote his review before this one! We chatted about this insane process and talked about how thankful we were for VJ! Since we knew every detail about the procedures at the consulate it was a piece of cake! They let us in at 7:30am, didn't ask for ID, Loomis, or the interview letter! I was shaking and nervous and prepared to give them the documents! Once inside we went through a very laid back security check, it was easy for my Husband and me as we didn't bring in cell phones or bags. After that we sat down in front of the elevator until 8am. At 8am we were let in and us and the other VJ member went to the back left! Once the door opened we moved like robots to the left and to window 14. The other people on the elevator were wandering around not knowing what to do! Thank God for VJ!
We got C2 and were called 1st. The lady was super nice, asked for my original long form birth certificate, marriage certificate, police check, passport, and passport photos (3 of them). She asked if we were still going to live at the address we gave them on our application and I said yes. She took my fingerprints then sent us back to sit down. Not more then 8 minutes later we were called to another window down the hall and had another very nice lady.
She asked where we met (working in Afghanistan) and she was so interested in what we did over there! It was just like talking to a 'normal' person, she seemed very interested in our jobs over seas. She asked my Husband what he does for a living then took my fingerprints again. While I was doing that she told us, 'this case is very straight forward, I'm approving your visa'. We were shocked, and speechless. We said....Thanks!! I wanted to ask her out for a drink! Hahaha

Overall it was so easy! But that being said, we had brought EVERY piece of paper, picture, card, plane ticket, tax info, hotel receipt with us. You can never bring too much! I was shaking and so nervous but when I got on that elevator to leave I was elated, I just didn't know how to feel? It's finally over!!! We were out of the consulate by 8:40am.
