So here is the story that includes the interview experience:

Me and my USC wife got married this Feb. She has been living here for some time and also had a full time job so that made our DCF route easier. We filed the petition in Delhi in April and within 2 weeks my wife wrote to them and we got to know that it has been approved and moved to the Delhi consulate for processing the visa. By this time I had arranged all PCCs - India, Passport office and from Denmark as I have been living there for some years.

I received my Packet 3 and 4 together with the interview date which was 10th july.

I got my medicals done at Max in Delhi that costed me around 4500 INR. Meanwhile my wife went to the US to set up things for us and she found a job quickly.

I prepared the following files:

1. The basic - Marriage Cert, Birth Cert. Passport, PCCs etc - the docs that were asked officially.

2. I 864 file - I864 wife, w2, 1040, I864 Joint sponsor, his 1040 and w2 along with their proofs of being a USC (birth certificate will do)

3. Proof of relationship file : Joint insurances, joint bank acc, photo album, proof of travel taken together, joint rent agreement from India where we lived together

4. Proof of US support : my wife's employment letter (new job), letter from her parents confirming my accommodation.

5. Proof of my qualification: all my degrees from India and abroad, letter of appointment from previous jobs

6. Other : My wife's active US bank and credit card proof, her driving license, voting record etc to show active US domicile

Interview Day:

I reached there at 7.30 (interview time was 8.30).

There were a million people already, mostly Sikhs ;. The guards are quite rude and would not answer properly. Remember, you cannot carry any sort of bag inside like a laptop bag or a back pack. Women can carry hand bags though. I took all my files and had to leave my laptop bag outside.

They'll line you up according to your timing and later will ask immigrant visa candidates to move in separately, my passport and interview letter was checked here.

I went through the airport like security and had to queue up inside. The Indian girl gave me my token for the day that I was supposed to carry into the big hall.

I token was called in for the fingerprint round and later I was asked to sit. My number flashed again and I was interviewed by an Indian woman. She asked for most of my docs. as she was preparing the file and checking through all docs for final interview. My files were ultra organized and categorized so I was throwing papers in before she asked. She was quite impressed and even forgot to ask for the visa fee.

I was moved to the final round with an American guy who asked some basic questions like tell me about your love story, when/where were you married, oath taking. He then asked for photos. He also asked me about my time in Denmark and what was i doing abroad and the next thing I heard was that I am approved, my visa should reach me within a week.

I came out of that hall totally happy until I realised that she hasnt asked for the fee. I went back inside and went to the window where that Indian CO was standing and I told her that she hasnt asked for the fee. She was thrilled and apologetic, I paid the fee in cash and moved out - settled my passport delivery with VFS girls outside.

I was out by 10.30 and within 3 days I received my passport with my visa and the sealed envelope.

Feel free to reach me if you need any help!
