My husband arrived at the consulate around 7:30am. He said he was about the 15th person in line. Luckily for him and unfortunately for those 15 people.....they got turned away. One for having a briefcase and others for not having their paperwork ready for the door (passport, interview appointment letter, and Loomis/DHL confirmation). He said he did notice a booth inside where you can get passport style photos done there (3 for $10)which is good to know. I was sure to give him the specific instructions I have read on here regarding going to the back left of elevator and then when exiting the elevator go to your left and ignore the reception desk right in front of the elevator. My husband said the gentlemen on the elevator instructed them before opening the doors to go directly to the left, window 14. My husband also said there was no reception desk directly in front of the elevator when exiting, so maybe they took that out because of the confusion it caused, who knows, lol. My husband ended up getting that famous ticket # C1....wooohooo He said he sat down for about 6 seconds and was called to the first window. He was at the first window for about 10 minutes handing in his papers (medical exam packet) and taking fingerprints. He then sat back down for approx. 5 mins and was called to the interview window. That lasted about a whole 5 mins also. The gentlemen he had only asked him 1 question besides the basics of his name. He asked how we met......that's it!! Then handed him the Welcome to the USA letter and my husband was on his way out. I had all the paperwork for my husband in an accordion type file folder with everything labeled. I even told my husband they will most definitely ask for my 2012 tax papers. When the guy never asked for them my husband offered them to him, lol. The guy said he didn't really need them but would take them. My husbands words to me....."I was stressing over nothing". So happy this step is done. Though we will need to go back when it is time for my stepson interview, lol.
