As others have noted, the process was relatively painless. Here is an overview:

Hotel: Days Inn Downtown. It was cheap ($85/night) and serviceable. About a ten minute walk to the consulate. The front desk let me have a late checkout (2pm), and held my bags in case it took longer than that. The airport bus stops directly in front of the hotel and they will make change for you (the bus does NOT make change/take bills).

Consulate: Arrived at about 6:45am (just me - hubby had to work), and was the third person in line. Opened doors at 7:30. First guy was turned away because he did not have Loomis number. The guy behind me was turned away because he had a laptop bag (he went back to his hotel).

Went through security without issue, and then down the stairs to wait by the elevator. Security guy came about 8am to let everyone up (stand at the back left). Raced around the corner and got ticket C-2. Was called two minutes later to show all my original documents and take fingerprints. I did not realize they needed the original signed affidavit of support (I thought it was just the original tax transcripts they wanted) - but luckily I was totally anal and brought EVERYTHING, so I had a copy of the AOS plus the original signature page. Once that was done, I went to another window to take the oath and answer several questions (when did we meet; our occupations; was I currently employed; was I ever convicted of a crime; do we have any kids; did I live anywhere else except for Canada; is my husband currently living in the US... can't remember any others). Took all of 5 minutes and I was out the door by around 8:30 am!
