We had out Interview last week so I just thought I'd share a little about our experience ... btw we got APPROVED :D

My Daughter is immigrating to the US with me so she had to attend the interview, my son is not at this stage so he was not required to attend.

I guess before I start the most important thing is to make sure you have all the required documents and copies of each, they love it if your organised!

Get there early, we got there at 7.00am and our appointment was for 8.00am we were first in the queue but only just! They wheel out two little trolleys ... Start to form a queue at the one on the right as you face the Embassy.

Directions and instructions on where to go and what to do are really clear they do make it very simple for you.

Security checked that we had our appointment letter and MRV receipts. Then it was off through an airport style security check and round to reception where our allotted appointment number was stuck to our letter ... we were I901

We went up into the main waiting room, sat and just literally waited until they started calling numbers. Dead on the dot of 8.00am our number was called and we were requested to go to window 13.

The lady that took our Documents and copies was lovely and extremely efficient and we had a nice chat and laughed as she processed everything and took our fingerprints. Amongst all the other documents she asked for she did ask for the DS230 Part II, and thanks to a tip I had earlier we did have them! Although I believe they are technically not needed for a K1/K2 I would definitely recommend you take them just in case. Also if you have children going with you take an extra photo copy of all the Financial information for each child. Once all of that was done it was back to the waiting room for the actual interview ... our number was called again so off we went to window 15 I think.

We had a young tallish slim built American guy handle our interview, he didn't smile, he was very efficient and pretty much to the point, but pleasant. I took the Oath and he processed my fingerprints again (not my Daughters). I got asked a variety questions, about how, when, where did we meet, where my OH was from originally, what he did for a job, had he been married before, how many children he had and where did they live, he also asked about my OHs siblings ... I think that was about it, then he said everything seems to be in order I am happy to approve your visa applications, I cried and suitably embarrassed my Daughter and finally he smiled!!! He asked me if I had any questions, there was a whole bunch of questions I had thought of while I was waiting but every single one went completely out of my head ... he asked me if a would like a minute to compose myself! I thanked him but all I really wanted to do was get to the DX line, pay and go call my OH.

We weren't sure what questions my Daughter would be asked, but she was asked nothing at all.

So all we have to do now is wait for our Visas to arrive, book our flights, say our goodbyes here in the UK ... and we can get on with the rest of our lives together!

Good luck to all of those who follow!
