Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
About 6 hours total processing...
1. Waited in line at the back (near the overpass) together with the other K1 applicants.
2. Went through the first checkpoint - passport, first page of appointment letter, DS forms in this order: DS-156, DS-157, DS-156, DS-157, DS-156K
3. Went through the security scan. Make sure no electronic devices like cellphones and USB drives. Umbrellas are allowed inside.
4. Fall in line to get a number. I was asked if I am done with the medical exam and then told to drop the stapled DS forms (with the number) at window 38. I just went straight inside. No need to wait near the canteen. Immigrant visa section is on the right side of the door.
5. When my number first flashed on the board, it was for finger printing. Four fingers on the left hand first, four fingers on the right then 2 thumbs together.
6. Next with the Filipino interviewer. I was asked for the passport, BPI receipt, birth certificate, CENOMAR, NBI Clearance (Date Issued: Oct 2012), Form I-134 together with 2011 tax records (W2, 1040 and tax transcript). I was asked a few questions about me and my fiance. She asked me too for my old passport with the tourist visa.
7. The interview with the CO. Same questions: who is the petitioner, how did you meet him, when did you meet him in person, etc. He asked to see some pictures but just quickly browsed through them. And he said, "Ok, you are approved. Take a seat and wait for your number to be called."
8. I waited near the windows 71, 72 and 73 because they do not flash the number anymore. Instead they just called out the names. A person was checking the documents and the computer if everything is ok. He gave me back my old passport with the now cancelled tourist visa. I was told that I can go home and just wait for the new visa.
