From my point of view, if you try to put together a good packet and follow the advice on this site-and are not trying to snow them-everything will turn out well. I was unable to attend the interview with Karinna since I returned to the U.S. ahead of her. She went with her daughter. She was well prepared. I sent a copy of my most recent check, bank statements showing I had made withdrawals in peru, our leasing contract for the apartment we shared, and many extras. The only evidence they asked for were the photos and the contract, Karinna tells me. The process went smoothly. She arrived at 8am and was out by about 10am. Despite being unsure of my daughter's age and not knowing when I was divorced, she had no problem. I think it was due in part to the fact that she was over-prepared. She kept offering evidence and they said they didn't want to read anything. The visa was received at DHL two days later. Sincerity, honesty and preparedness are the keys. 90% of those I met in Lima who were turned down for a visa novia admitted when pressed they were just trying to get to the US, not in a real relationship with their "fiance." "But it wasn't fair b/c they didn't know that," they said....but they do know. It is easy to spot. Sincerity, honesty, preparedness. From mailing the app until the visa was in hand= 5 mos.
