My family, fiance and I all stayed in Montreal for the weekend at Le Nouvel Hotel. It was about a 4 minute drive to the consulate. My dad drove my fiance and i to the consulate, we arrived at 7:35am Monday December 17th. When we arrived there were about 3-4 others lined up outside. We were not sure if my fiance was going to be allowed in or not. When we were next to go inside the security guard asked if it was the two of us and i said yes, and they let him in with me Then a lady took my passport and put a sticker on the back. While waiting in line for security, i saw a lady get rejected because her purse was too big. So honestly, the best thing is just don't come with one! Thankfully she must have put them in her car or somewhere because she came back.Once it was our turn to go through security we had to take everything out of our pockets, and place them in the bin to go through the scanner. Then my fiance walked through the scanner, and i did and set it off. So they had to manually scan me. Ugh that sure made me more nervous, but i was good to go! So they sent us downstairs and we waited with some others to go into the elevator. At 8:00 a security guard came and crammed about oh maybe 14 of us into the elevator and told a guy to press 19. So up we went, and then once we were up there, no one was there, we didn't know what to do. A few mintues later, someone came to a window and we got our numbers. I was the 10th person. So we waited our turn to be called. At the first window a man asked for my medical, my MRV fee receipt, affidavit of support and IRS transcript, Long form birth certificate and photocopy, passport, passport photos, original police record check, and original letter of intent. He doubled checked that he had the right information in the system (addresses, phone numbers etc). I had my fingers scanned. I was probably up there for about 15 minutes.

By the time i sat back down none of the others before me had been called up to the second window. At 9:00 they started calling people again. It was about 9:15 or so and I was called. I was super nervous. We walked down this little hall into booth eight(much more private then the first set of windows). A lovely lady, swore my fiance and I in. She then asked me how my fiance and I met, and what his job was, and all the while she was just typing typing. She glanced up at us a few times throughout. Then she handed me back my long form birth certificate. She then asked me how my fiance proposed to me. At this point she pretty much stopped typing and was just listening and smiling at us. When i finished she said the most wonderful words I'm approving your visa!!! Yippy!! We were back at the hotel by 9:30. It sure was quick!!
