Great experience with consulate.....1st off, as soon as you get your appt booked with them, shoot an email so they will send you your appt letter which you need for the medical. also remember you can not enter with liquids, cameras, or phones all of which you can leave in security if you need to.

as far as the actual interview went, it was a breeze. appt was at 14:00 we got there about :15 beforehand. there was a short line outside but they were all tourist visas. we were allowed in early and were actually the 4th in line for immigrant visas (so if you want to go early, looks like they open about 20 till, idk). you don´t need to pass to the counter where they take the info of all the non-im. visas, you can just sit and wait for your # to be called.
we were called up to a window for document reception, the girl was new (chilean, shortish, with glasses) and was being trained. she was extremely nice and she allowed me to stay at the window with my spouse while she asked him questions (how did you meet, had i travelled back to the us at any point in our relationship, how did we communicate during that time, when did we decide to get married, and also double checking the address and phone number we had sent in on the form). while i was at the window, she made it clear the questions were for him and i wasn´t to answer or help him answer them. she seemed to be typing all his answers on the computer.
then, we sat down and waited to be called to another window for the actual interview. the CO was a very young american man (30, maybe?) and extremely nice. he also let me stay at the window the whole time. he asked SPN or ENG, and expalined what the signing of the ds-230 means. hubby signed it, he chitchatted with us (we are from the same area back home), he asked my husband what he planned to do when he got there. he shuffled some papers, and then said, "well, todo me parece bien. su visa ha sido aprobada." and that was that. javascript:emoticon('')
