My interview was for 830. We drove to the capital the afternoon before and stayed at my brother in-law's house. We got up at 5am, got ready and was at the embassy and in line at 630am. The buscones are everywhere. We didnt even blink in their direction. An employee directed us to the immigrant visa line and we probably waited in line for less than an hour before we were inside. I only brought the necessary docs and evidence. I left my purse at the house. They took a look at his interview letter and stapled #287 to it. The men and women and seperated into 2 lines as we passed though security. There were a very large amount of tourist visa applicants. They took up almost the whole seating area. There are metl benches but there are cushions on them and not so uncomfortable. There are restroonms, loud fans, t.v's and a small cafe. The numbers are called in no particular order. We first got called to window #16 where we were asked very basic info (ph number, how many times have I been maried, his name, and who was the petitioner)and he was asked for his passport, cedula, banco popular receipt and police report. They handed me the older, original police report that was sent in with his IV packet. We then got in line for his fingerprints. They are digital. We sat back down and we waited for about 2.5 hours and were called to window #20. At approx 1050 a very sweet young American lady asked what language we preferred out interview in. I answered Spanish. She swore us in and asked Joel these questions:
How did we meet?
When were we married?
How many people attended the wedding?
Was there a reception?
Did I have children?
Has she ever visited?
Has he ever done drugs or been in trouble withthe law?
To me:
May I please see your passport?
To Joel:
How many times have I visited since we met?
To us:
Wow! Thats alot of times. Do you have any pictures.
I passed her a very cute, very thin book I made on Shuterfly with about 80+ pics in it...it slid very easily under the window. She smiled and laughed at them. She never asked who any of the people were.
Then she said "Felcidades, tu visa a sido aprovada. Buenas suerte en Los Estados Unidos".
We were done in about 3 minutes.. Paying Domex took longer than the interview. LOL. We chose to pick it up. We were out the door by 11:15.
Overall, I truly believe they already know who they are going to approve and who they have doubts with. It was very smooth and low stress. The wait was the hardest part. We made the most of it by joking around and talking with other couples. They were approving alot of people today. It was a very goo experience. I had loads of evidence they did not even look at and we prepared to answer alot of questions they did not even come close to asking. I guess we got lucky and I cannot be any happier with our experience or outcome. I hope to have visa in hand within a few days so me, my husband and daughter can all fly back together.
