Once upon a time we fell in love... Our journey began... And on these tropical days...
Our interview was for 10/10/2012 8:30 AM.
We were worried about parking so we drove around the day before to checkout the parking situation. We spoke to the parking attendant of the one behind the gas station next to the consulate and he told us to be able to get a spot to come early. So we did, we were there at 6am sharp. Parking cost $150.00 DOP pesos.
There was only one line so we went straight to it, across the street the buscones kept shouting for the people that had 8am interviews to wait across the street. We decided to stay on the line and that if the "info guys" from the consulate took us out that we would go to straight to the line in the back end. No waiting anywhere but the line for us. To our relief the let us through. We got number 263. We were inside at around 7am.
We sat and waited, at around 7:45 they called us for the passport, cedula, police certificate and Popular $15.00 USD receipt. They gave us back the cedula and the BC and MC we sent to NVC not legalized. We had gotten another Birth Certificate since we read on other interviews they asked for it again but they did not asked us for it. From there they gave us a paper and sent us to another window to get her biometrics done.
We hit the cafeteria for some snaks and we sat down to wait.
At around 8:35 they called us to lucky window 24, there was a very nice and polite blonde American woman, she sworn us in, asked english or spanish to which we replied english and only asked a few questions:
Asked my wife if she committed any crimes recently.
If she had traveled to the US.
Asked about a tourist visa she tried to renew when she was 18 and was denied.
Asked us how we met.
How many times I had traveled to DR, I answered 13 and she replied, you are quite a traveler!
Asked for some pictures and I pulled my wedding album opening to the page were my mother and family was and told her my family attended.
My wife gave her a bunch of loose pictures that we had arranged as to the ones with other people on the pictures with us on the top including pictures of the wedding and reception showing a lot of people. She only asked where was the wedding and reception held at. She did look at all the pictures quickly.
At that point she gave us back the pictures, raised the green ticket and told us the visa was approved to go to Domex.
That was it, we were at that window for about 5 minutes.
We where home at around 9:15 am.
We were stunned it was so simple and easy. We had taken about 10 pounds of documents, call logs, joint bank account letters, all the copies of everything sent, extra originals, tax records, pay stubs, etc. We also spent quite some time practicing questions and organizing everything. Thankfully we were not asked for any of it.
Very happy, God is good!
Blessings and good luck to all!
