My experience at the Consulate was very nice actually, it was just me, my fiance was back in the US.
I when earlier that day to pick up my medical result (the doctor told me to get there at noon, but I was too excited so I got there about 10:45 am, thinking I may get them earlier, Wrong!!) anyway I got my results at 12 pm, then I head to the embassy, I got there around 12:30 pm so I when to have a coffee and a snack, cross the embassy, so then I when to the door and wait there till a security guy came out and ask me what I was doing there, I show him my appointment letter and he told me they will let me in at 13:30, then more people show up and start doing a line, some funny stories happen in that mid while (other people with other type of visas, most of them tourist)any way after a while an other person that work at the embassy came out and tell us that they where ready, and put some people a head of me, like a lady of age and a girl that was with a baby.
When I finally got in I was still the first on the normal people's line, they have a whole new system, they ask for your ID card (cedula de identidad) and check on a computer to see if you have an appointment I wasn't in that computer cause that's for non-immigrant visas and the K-1 visa was treat like immigrant, so the security guy after checking my belonging give me a paper with a letter and a number mine was D 08 I think and the paper said immigrant visas. So I when in, an other lady that was at the entry of the consulate told me to go and wait at the end of the room and that I could call in cause I was the first or just wait for my number to be call (I was a bit stress so I decide to sit get my papers together and wait to be call) after I sit down other people got in and they I realize some people with immigrant visas got in the wrong line and they had to go back to the security and ask for an immigration number, so be careful!
After a while, I don't remember how long, not much longer I got there, my number was call to window number 6, a chilean girl ask for all my papers, and the payment confirmation, then she ask me if I ever been in the US before I told her yes and then she ask me more details, that part slow things down cause I when with a J1 visa and then change my visa and stay for 7 months but I did everything legal and had the papers of my change of visa and also my approval notice, so she made a copy of all that and make me give her my old passport and showing her the stamp of the passport when I came back to Chile and mark it (when she did that I tough that it was gonna be a problem maybe) after that she ask me all the questions about my relationship with my fiance till I told her that he lived with me for a whole year and he left a couple of months ago, then she said well everything looks good, go and have a seat, the CO will call you by your name in a little bit(by the way she type everything I told her)
After 5 min I got call in to window number 8, and a young guy attend me and ask me English or Spanish I said it doesn't matter, then he proceed in English and took my finger prints and then ask me about how was my fiance like, I answer then he ask me where was my fiance at, I told him where at and then add waiting for me with a big smile in my face, he type and type and look at my folder then put my passport in the folder and said... well everything looks good your visa is approve, you will receive it in 2 weeks, there nothing else you have to do here... I was like... ok cool thanks and with the biggest smile ever, and feeling like I was walking in a cloud, left the consulate loving everybody waving goodbye to every person I saw.
I was a nice experience and a great result, now I'm just waiting for my passport and counting the days till I can meet my fiance again! Super happy and Super excited!!
