Well first off, what a relief that it's over, and we were APPROVED! We drove to Montreal from Michigan on Sunday and stayed at the Le Square Phillip Hotel right around the block from the embassy. We walked to it Sunday evening so we would know exactly where we were going. Stopped at Timmy's on the way there in the morning for a coffee and got to the building at 6:20. We were first in line. We only brought our folder with our documents and my husband had his wallet. The next person got there at 6:30 and not long after, another couple. By 7:00 a line was forming. We got let in first at 7:30 to go through security. They put a sticker on the back of my husbands passport and checked mine and checked our DHL confirmation letter. Then they sent us downstairs. We sat on the left side of the elevator, as close as we could. The others joined us quickly. Their were four VJ groups and it was fun to talk about how much we all got our of this web site and huge praise to Saylin for all of her knowledge and help. Right at 8:00 we were sent to the 14th floor to get our number (C1 yea). Very shortly we got called up to the first window for our documents. I had everything organized according to my checklist and it went very fast, although we were both very nervous. They took my husbands finger prints. We sat back down for only 5 minutes before being called for our interview. We got the lady with the dreadlocks. She wasn't overly friendly, but it was okay, as she seemed very business like. She asked ME more questions that I had anticipated, since it was my husband immigrating. She asked where we met, when we actually met in person, what I did for work, if I had kids. Then she asked for my original divorce order, which I am so glad I brought, since it wasn't on my checklist. She asked my husband about a DUI he got 20 years ago, and then said we were approved!. We were out by 8:45 and on the way home by 9am. We are hoping our VJ friends in line also got approved, but didn't stick around to see. Thanks to everyone. We are so excited for us to live together.........finally.
