We arrived at the consulate at 6:30 and we were second in line.Right behind us were another Visajourney couple and we spent the waiting time talking about the immigration process and Visajourney. The doors were opened at 7:30 exactly and the first woman in line was turned away because her handbag was too large. We saw her a short time later because she left her bag at the Tim Hortons coffee shop a block away. I believe they will hold your bag for a fee!
We passed through security without a problem and did the elevator thing exactly as described here on Visajourney. Coming off the elevator we received number C2 and were told to sit down.We were called to the documents window in less than 5 minutes and we had all the documents required thanks to the preparation tips we received on this site. We were then instructed to sit back down and wait again till our number was called.
The wait was about 15 minutes and we were called to the interview window. The young black lady was very nice and she swore me in and asked my wife to read a paper swearing that she would answer all questions truthfully. My wife was asked the standard questions, where did you meet?, when did you get married?, when and where was the first time we met in person?, how many visits did I make to Canada? She then asked me where I worked and what my job was!
That was it. She passed the "Welcome to the US" paper to my wife; explained the courier process to us and answered a few questions we had. We left the embassy at 8:45 and couldn't believe how easily it went!
We contacted Loomis today and they said her visa is ready to be picked up and we plan to enter the US on Monday the 10th of September!
The process took a little over 7 months from our initial I-130 filing. The best advice we can give to those still in the process is to follow all the advice you receive here on Visajourney and never lose faith in completing this successfully.
