Hi all. My consulate review went really well. We stayed at fairmont Elizabeth , about a 7 min walk from consulate. Got decent price for it off Travelocity and they hold luggage/ car until 4 pm next day for u. Was really nice . Arrived to consulate at 630 am, only a few people in line. As they call numbers randomly once you get inside I'd say it doesn't matter if u show up at 7 or so, people that got there sy 730 when they opened somehow got their document intake done before us anyways. So sleep a little longer lol. After called o window 1 for document verification and finger printing after a half hour wait or so(we were c5), we were only at the window for less than 10 minutes. Thanks to having everything ready in the order per packet 4 and vj recommendations it went super fast. Some people had a lot of trouble and were at window for over half hour. One poor lady realized her lawyer spelled her name wrong on the documents... Save yourself the money and fill everything out yourself if you can! Another lady got told they couldn't find her case but she wa very firm and told them she had a flight to catch, couldn't come back later and saw no reason y they couldn't process it when she had all necessary orogional documentation and payment confirmation with her. She got it approved they day too so it worked out. The interview was very brief, the lady was really nice . She only asked where and when we met, when married and that was pretty much it before approval. Then she bummed us out by saying that I should expect to stay in US until official card came in 2-3 months later. As we are a border city and I'm continuing to commute to work, that was a huge problem!! That's the whole reason we did the cr1 instead of k1. So Eric stopped in at customs on his way home, and was assured that is not the case. Once u go thru POE and they stamp your visa u can come and go as you please. And you have a year to import your car officially. Customs also told us to cross just me with visa packet first , get processed then go get uhaul. It annoys them if u show up with the uhaul at time of initial entry. And she recommended making an itemized list for them of contents and their location in uhaul.
So very painless experience for us, no reason to be nervous at all as long as you have prepared your paperwork . Really informal. Thanks vj for all the help!
