Easier than expected. Breezed right through it. No harassment, hardly any questions asked. Couldn't have asked for a better technician to deal with.

I entered through Pearson Airport, and left plenty of time, just in case. I was activating a J1 (I am Canadian and we do this directly at the border). I was sent to secondary and was the only person there. I went right up to the desk, where the officer asked me a few simple questions about my job, where I would be living and why I was entering 2 weeks before my job started. Stamp, stamp, stamp, on my way.

Arrived at Pearsons on a flight from Edmonton, As I approached customs the woman at the desk noticed my packet and directed me to an area around the corner. When I entered it was empty and I was told to give the officer my envelope. She opened it, asked if I had plans to return to canada, and sent me on my way. No hassles whatsoever, very friendly.

Waited over an hour to be called up. Filled out the information on the I-94. She asked me how many times my fiance had been married. I said once and she asked what her name was. She asked me when my fiance was born and when we were getting married. She filled out the I-94 and told me to make sure I did AOS after we were married. There were people there that had been waiting over 2 hours. The visa's got pushed ahead for some reason.

I landed in Toronto (Pearson airport) at 8:30 AM on June 15 2011. I followed signs for US connections and baggage claims to a carousel right by customs (5 minute walk). I filed the usual Custom Declaration form, picked up my luggage (2 checked, 1 carry-on and a laptop) and went to first available booth.
I told the officer I was activating a K-1 and he asked me where I was going and asked to see my sealed packet and passport. I was fingerprinted and he took a photograph. He then gave me my passport and unopened packet back and told me to go to the secondary zone.
I walked to the secondary zone and 2 officers asked my purpose, then for my passport, sealed packet and boarding pass. They asked me to sit down and file a small white form with my name, passport number and address in the US. Once done with filing the form, I handed it to them and sat in the waiting area for 5 minutes before they called my name. They reminded me I had 90 days to get married and gave me my stamped passport and boarding pass.
They kept my whole sealed packet and told me to follow the green arrows to go to my connecting flight. I was the only person in secondary. I was a little worried because I was denied entry when visiting my fiance during the K-1 process and I thought it would come up. But it was not even mentioned.
I went in around 9:00 AM and I was out by 9:15 AM. No questions, no search. Somehow now my 4 hours layover seems a little overkill...
