This is a two status post.

1. If you have a green card, get Global Entry! No question whatsoever as to its usefulness in any POE that has the kiosks. Out in literally minutes... and had to wait for 3+ hrs for my GF who had at the time an F1 visa and on OPT. Computers went down as she's waiting. So she waited...

2. We had done all the research possible on F1 OPT travel and there is minimal info out there. Most schools will tell you "don't travel" so that they aren't raising false expectations. The reality is very different.
She knew a couple of her classmates with F1 OPT had traveled out and gotten minimal to maximum levels of harassment by CBP. In her case, as I mentioned, the CBP computer system went down as she's waiting to be processed in SeaTac. Finally she gets up to the window, guy looks at her Singaporean passport with valid F1, her valid EAD, and her valid I-20 and asks her what is it that she's doing for work. She tells him she's doing finance work for a startup and that she also sits on the board of a non profit. CBP guy says "you must be pretty busy" while stamping her passport. She smiles and agrees. Total time spent waiting in line, 3:30 hrs. Total time spent at window, less than 1 min.

No hassles, no waiting at Seattle point of entry. My husband said everyone was kind and he was especially pleased that they made it clear he was allowed to drive with his foreign license among other rights they told him he now had. He felt the questioning at his transfer point in Amsterdam was more strenuous.

Went through immigration smoothly in less than 15 mins. The CBP officer were very nice (Asked how long have we've been married, why we waited for too long before husband petitioned me and confirmed my US address). Told that GC will arrived in 4-6 weeks, my IR-1 visa will serve as my temp. GC and that I can use it to get SSS and drivers/state ID. Then went down to pick up luggage, pass through costum with no problems (was asked if we have balut or chicharon). Rode the subway to the north airport station and tada!! hubby was there.
We landed at around 12noon via Asiana Airline and got out at 12:50pm.
