This is a very big airport, so please have that in mind for you not to lose your connections. Other than that I had a nice experience in Houston. Finally I am in Houston.

After a 12 hour long flight, we waited in the visitors line. The officer checked my passport and visa and told me to wait in the hall. The line took forever. Make sure you budget time just to wait in line. The only question asked was "Are you M*****?".
And for anyone bringing pets, we had no problems bringing in two cats through customs.

The process a little over 3 hours. I waited in a long line for at least an hour. My passport was checked, then an officer lead me to an office where I sat again for about 45 minutes.
