Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My husband (German National) and I have known each other since we were basically kids. No criminal record of ANY kind on either end, in fact we BOTH cleared Homeland Security/FBI/Interpol in 48 hours. We submitted everything on time, with ample evidence, more evidence than they requested, but I wanted to cover by bases.

From the get-go with USCIS it has been nothing but mistakes on their end, them losing paperwork, being incompetent and the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, always excuses and zero accountability.

Our AOS Interview was scheduled 2.5 years AFTER we filed. We arrived 30 minutes early, and were called in an hour after the scheduled appointment time. The Immigration Officer (BYRNE) was a total a**. He was clearly in a very bad mood, and hates his job. He also looks like he should have retired 30 years ago.

He makes a comment about how thick our file is, and I responded with "well I wanted all my bases covered... read complete review

Then she had us stand and take our oath. She asked us to sit again and asked if we had any questions before we began. I told her I wanted to verify our address since the interview notice had been sent to our old address. She checked and found that our address had been updated everywhere except in one place, so she changed it. Hopefully it’s truly fixed now!

She started by asking my ... read complete review

The officer was very curt but not overly rude. He did not ask us any questions about the validity of our relationship. Instead, he spent the whole 10 minutes that we were there talking about how my wife changing her last name was some kind of scam. Two things about this, I have over 10 years of experience enforcing immigration laws in the southwest where 99 percent of the people that I encounter are Hispanic. My wife is Filipino but they follow the same naming formula that Spain and Mexico use which is, Given name, Mother's Surname, Father's Surname. Pretty easy to understand. Once someone from a culture that follows this formula gets married they usually change their name to this, Given name, Father's surname, Husband's Surname. This is how my wife's name appears on her SS card, her state ID, her driver's license, her combo card, our marriage license etc. This guy seemed to think that this was wrong but asked my wife what she preferred and she said that she would like to keep t... read complete review
