Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My wife and I got there at the appointed time with our baby.We went thru security, passed the NOA to window 2 and waited. Within 20 minutes we were called in my an elderly gentleman. He was very friendly discussing all manner of things besides immigration stuff. We sat in his office for about 20 minutes. He asked my to verify her name, date of birth, where she was born and the other entries on the application. He then asked for her EAD, clipped it with a pair of scissors. Collected her passport and stamped a 1 year I551 in it. He told her to expect the regular card in the mail and she didn't have to apply for Removal of conditions in 2 years. Also to make sure she applies for her citizenship in 3 years and that was it. We were expecting a bunch of questions and we had a stack of evidence. It was not needed. On to citizenship now!

Interview Appointment at 10:10 AM, we got there at 9:45, we stayed in the car until 9:58, got inside at 10:00 AM, and the officer called us at 10:10.

Our IO was a sweet lady; swore us in; she didn't make us feel nervous at all.

She asked for identification: We handed her our driver licenses and then she asked for our passports.

We were barely asked any questions at the interview. She only verified the information in our file.

Questions were:
* Beneficiary: Name, address, date of birth, Mother’s name, Father’s name, Wife’s date of birth, employer, verified previous address and a few criminal yes/no questions.

* Petitioner: Employer.

** We never asked for any evidence, even though I had a small briefcase with almost 30 lbs of information. "I told my wife we carried this heavy case for nothing."

She stepped out of the room about a minute, came back, and stated you are ap... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our AOS interview was 04/12/10 with an RFE which was fedex'd and delivered 04/29/2010.

On August 3, 2010 I contacted the USCIS Customer support number and asked why my case was 7 months and holding. USCIS sent me a letter with the type of service requested (Outside Normal Processing Times).

The letter stated, "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter."

On October 4th, 2010, I contacted the USCIS Customer support number and asked why my case was 9 months and holding. USCIS said they would inform the offoce to update the file.

On October 5th, 2010, I started an INFOPASS appointment for October 18,2010.

On October 18th, 2010, We spoke to a person in the main lobby (did not get to speak to our interviewing agent) sitting behind a cubicle and he admitted that it was too long to process and he would speak to his supervisor... read complete review

AOS INTERVIEW (Rescheduled) | 9/22/10 | 1:00pm | Orlando, FL

We arrived at 12:25 and the office was sooooo empty! There was literally one other person there when we arrived. We later found out that they weren't having any Infopass appointments that day, only some rescheduled AOS appointments. By the time we got called at 1:30, there were about 4 other couples there.

Our IO was a friendly young lady and she didn't make us feel nervous at all. She made us raise our right hands and swear in after being seated. She first asked to see our identification, photocopied them, verified a lot of the information in our file like our date of births, the visa I arrived on, past schools, and his employment status. She also verified that the address on file was the one we wanted as our primary.

At this point I asked her if I could change my maiden name to his last name and she said yes of course, and scratched out my last name and wrote his on my file. I wa... read complete review
