Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My AOS based on marriage interview was scheduled on June 26, 2018, at 8:45 AM at the USCIS Norfolk, VA Service Center. My husband (USC) and I arrived at the building at around 8:00 AM but didn't enter until about 8:15 AM. We handed our appointment letter to the security officer and he asked for our ID's and then we went through an Airport-type of security. We were instructed to fall-in-line at the information desk to check-in. The lady at the information desk asked for our appointment letter and our ID's. She asked us if we have any lawyer or interpreter and we answered her, no we don't. Then, she directed us to take the elevator to the 2F of the building and wait at the lobby until our names are called.

We waited in the lobby for about 10-15minutes, then, an African-American IO called my name. My husband and I greeted her good morning and she greeted us back and then she introduced herself (I forgot her first name but her last name is Ladson). She walked us into the ba... read complete review

Interview for Adjustment of Status:

My husband and I had the appointment at 11am. We were at the office about 15 min earlier and went upstairs to the waiting area. We waited more than 1 hour. We even asked for if we were forgotten since everybody that came in after us, were long gone already. About 1,5 hours later, our officer called us for the interview. The interview was easy and straightforward. The officer was friendly, but bit intimidating. She put us under oath and asked my husband some questions about me. Some basic questions like my full name, birthday, name of my mother, where I was born. She then asked me all the questions that are on the last pages of the I-485 form: like if I ever convicted a crime, involved in illegal activities etc. After that she told us that everything looks good but she can't make an decision yet. She was still to waiting for my file from USCIS to arrive, until then she can't approve me. As soon as she get's my file, she will make an dec... read complete review

Biometrics Appointment:

I had a quick and easy biometrics appointment. The officers at the security check were very polite and helpful. While taking me biometrics the officer was very friendly and humorous. He even asked if I'm satisfied with the picture of if I like him to take another one. I like that a lot, since the picture will be the one on my Green Card. I appreciated the great customer service. I was out in about 5min.

Such an intense experience! But good!

We waited for about 30 minutes past our interview time. The woman called us both to a private room. She asked me (the petitioner) directly to tell our story. I told about when we met and where we had lived together. She told me that I was being vague and that I have to prove to her that we are actually married. I told her more details and she asked us some questions. She asked if my husband knows my family and how many time we had visited the States. She still didn't seem very convinced or maybe she was just being cold. She then asked for documents and we showed her our wedding album and other proof. She seemed to lighten up and told us she was going to ask him questions about his application. She went through the whole i-485 and even asked me some questions about my husband.

When that was done, she told us we were approved and how to remove conditions in 2 years. She ended up being very nice but was definitely intimi... read complete review
