Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I wanted to share our adjustment of status interview because the experiences on this website that people shared have helped me & my wife a lot through this exhausting process.
First the background info.
I'm a US citizen and my wife is mexican and adjusting from a B1/B2 visa.
We married in Sept. 2009 but had been living apart until last october when she arrived in the us for a business trip, after which she would stay with me for a month. during her visit, my temporary job became permanent allowing me to support us in the US, so when I found out we could adjust her status because she was inspected at the POE even though it was with a B1/B2 Visa, I asked her to stay and go through the process immediately because I was tired from all the hassle and expense of traveling back and forth to visit each other. She talked with her company to arrange a leave of absence and since she's in such good standing with the company it was granted.

So here's the timeline... read complete review

Relatively painless interview. IO asked a couple of questions from my husbands G-325, he looked at the evidence we brought.. lease, car insurance, joint bank account statement, 2012 joint tax return - he stated that without the W2 he can not accept it as evidence since we didn't have the W2 with us as proof, and many many pictures - more copies for him although they already had copies of all the pictures and he looked at the original photos which we had brought in our wedding album and wedding shower album (they included an original wedding shower and wedding invitation that he also made copies of). He looked at my passport and both our IDs asked about a couple of people in some of the pictures, who I named to him. He asked me about my background, since I was adopted and born in a different place than where I had grown up and commented on my distinct Asian features. He asked about our jobs and we had a little small talk about hubby's work place. While talking IO took my I-94 and crosse... read complete review

4 hours of waiting in the room...getting hungry and so frustrated.
8 minutes in the interview room; we were asked how we met and that's pretty much it!!

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My husband and I had his adjustment of status interview scheduled for 7:15 a.m. on February 1, 2012.

We arrived around 7:00 a.m. to find a line of people already outside. Yikes. The building wasn't actually open then, so it was literally a queue of people, not moving. The security guards outside were extremely rude. They were shuffling us + others like cattle.

Eventually, we made it inside through the metal detectors and up to the floor & room for interviews. Make sure you have your appointment letter handy.

When you get into the waiting room, you will drop your appointment letter in a tray by the front, where the clerk will stamp it. And then you wait.

By the time we got to the room, it was probably around 7:45 a.m. We waited just over a half hour before we were called.

As for the interview itself: wow. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but definitely something more than what we had.

The inte... read complete review
