We got to the USCIS office about 10-15 minutes before our scheduled appointment (8 AM). We went through security check - had a bit of hold up because of my compact mirror (it was a birthday gift from my brother's fiancee - I guess it beeped because it was made of metal) - even the security personnel were wondering because I had nothing else in my purse; just our passports, my planner, wallet, pens, lip sunscreen and house key. I took out the mirror and they put my purse through the machine again and it cleared. After that we went to the reception desk and we were told to go through the automatic doors and drop our interview notice in the tray in Window 8 and wait for my name to be called. We waited for about 45 minutes. About 4 people who came after us were called before we were. One man was called but his wife wasn't allowed to come in with him. My hubby and I thought that they interviewed couples separately but when the IO called my name, my hubby went up to him and asked if he could... read complete review

Firstly we were up at 3am to complete chores before we left. As we had to drive from the other side of the state we left 4 hours early even though the drive should have been 3. Our appointment was at 9:30 and we didn't want to be delayed by peak hour. When we arrived (7:45) there were 2 cars in the main lot in front of the building. We needed a bathroom break and knew the appointment letter said not to enter more than 30 mins early so we drove a little bit, found a McDonalds where we were hit up by a homeless guy for breakfast, he got breakfast.
When we returned we waited in the parking garage, we were the only car on the roof. (NOTE lots of free parking) After being there about 30mins a security guard came to see what we were up to. We explained, he said go in a bit earlier if you like you have to clear security. So we did it took maybe 3 mins. Then we were asked why we were there, directed to the large waiting room on the right an instructed to drop the appoin... read complete review

interview was the easiest thing EVER!
the interviewing officer was so nice and understanding!
the only documents she asked from us were both our passports~
she took my husbands advance parole documents after asking if we had any immediate travel plans- she explained that he would'nt need these anymore b/c the green card should arrive in 2-3 weeks.
she wanted to take my husbands EAD card- but I explained that he was hired for a job starting april 14 and they require to see the physical EAD card, so she said we could keep it to avoid any possible problems if the green card was late showing up in the mailbox.
she swore us both in and only asked a few questions:
how did we meet, is my husbands son planning on coming to the US at a later date, and she ran through the list of questions from ________form that we already submitted~
(dont remember exactly what one.... questions about terrorism, selling secrets of ... read complete review

Our AOS interview went very smoothly. We arrived at the Detroit CIS office about 30 minutes before our 1 PM appointment. They called our names at about 1:30 PM. After being sworn in and answering a few form questions our interviewer just had a very friendly chat with us as if we were old friends. After our short chat, our interviewer said that we were approved and congradulated us. That was it. Our interviewer didn't even ask to see any documents or evidence of our relationship that we brought with us. The whole interview experience couldn't have been any easier or been any more stress free.
