Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interview was very smooth. We walked in 25 minutes before our interview time. Checked in on the 2nd-floor window and then waited for our interviewer to call us. Our appointment time was 11:15 am. We were called around 11:20 am. The interviewer was a very nice lady. She made us take an oath, to tell the truth, and then started to review and verify our information on the application. Because of our case history(prior I-485 denied due to not receiving the interview letter and filing motion to reconsider which was also denied), she had a very thick file for our case. She basically asked the basic Yes No questions to my husband, asked him his parents name and when did he enter the USA. She asked if we had any more evidence to share so we gave her more pictures, bank statements, recent taxes and insurance cards. She kept it in the file. She looked through the pictures but didn't ask who was in the pictures etc. Anyhow, in the end, she said I am approving your case. Since we have been mar... read complete review

Adjustedfrom a K1 via AOS and then did ROC almost 2 years ago. Went through security (lines are hit and miss). Recommend getting there 30 min prior to your interview time. Check In on the 3rd floor and then waited near door 2. Appointment was for 8:00 AM - got called at 8:14 AM. Walked through and sat down after taking a oath to tell the truth. Officer had a very big file in front and said he would ask questions from the computer as it was a ELIS application for N400. Confirmed I was married asked about additions to the family. Then went on to the civics test. last question was who is the speaker of the house. Then writing and reading test.

15 min later it was all over ! WOO HOO ! He said 6-8 weeks should get a Oath ceremony letter. That was it. Pretty harmless

We had a wonderful female IO who was very kind, but also matter-of-fact. Our appointment was scheduled for 9:30 a.m., and we were in her office by about 9:40 a.m., She also had a trainee with her who just observed our whole interview.

All-around we had a very positive experience, and we were treated very respectfully by the staff and IO.

The immigration officer was pure joy to deal with. We were scared and anxious, but she wanted to know why we had waited 11 years to file. I told her I couldn't sponsor him until recently and how we were once told by an immigration attorney that he would be deported if he tried to file for AOS after overstaying. She told us she felt like she should have served tea because of the nice chat and approved us on the spot!
