Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you to VisaJourney.com. This website was so helpful to me and my husband throughout the AOS process. This website has accurate information and I found answers to so many of our questions. We did not use an attorney to prepare the applications (I-485, I-130, I-864, I-765). We followed the guides from this site. Our interview lasted about 45 minutes. We had a couple of red flags and I thought the officer would review our case for a couple of months and then make a decision. We did consult with an attorney and were told not to expect an approval on the day of the interview. The attorney advised us that we could wait up to 90 days.
The officer told us that we had sufficient evidence (I had tons of evidence) for an approval and I was so happy inside when I heard the loud thump of the approval stamp on our AOS application.

Again thank you VisaJourney. This site is so wonderful and helpful for people with straight forward cases and people with red flags like ours.

Our case status has been changed on the USCIS website to Card Production.

Send an email to me if you would like tips on what marriage evidence to submit.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our interview on June 26th in the Charlotte office.
We arrived at 8.25 for the 9am appointment. Plenty of parking out the front, and easy to get to due to its proximity to CLT airport.

We went through security, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We registered our arrival in the first room then proceeded to the waiting room where we were called just prior to our 9am appointment.

The IO was immediately very friendly, saying that she liked my shirt! We were lead to the IOs office, and sworn in.
She asked to see my I94, I had printed out the digital copy as my last entry was after the new system came into effect in May. She looked at it and handed it back. I explained that I traveled a lot for work at that point.
She asked us how we met which my wife (USC) answered. Then asked when the last time we were in my home country, which was December. Before joking about why would I want to leave such a beautiful country!! She then moved straight to the yes/no I-485 questions.

After that she asked if we had any joint documents, I started listing them off and pulling them out of our file. Joint Bank Account and Check (included in original app), A photo album (some family photos were in the inital app), Skype History and boarding passes for our trip in Decemeber. She didn't even glance at them as I put them on the desk (All that prep for nothing!)

She told us that I was approved, and that the card would be sent to me in 3-4 weeks. I asked about getting my passport stamped in case I need to travel for work. She asked if that was likely and I said there was a small possibility. So she agreed to stamp it. As she lead us back to the waiting area she ducked off to put the seal on the stamp.

All done!
She did not ask to see, or take the EAD card, so I have a nice memento to keep.

We included joint bank statements, checks and photos of us together with the extended family in our initial application. It seemed that the IO had already made the decision to approve before the interview. The interview lasted about 12 minutes!

Easy going interview, they just asked us how and when we met, we talked about living as a married couple and my wife's son. They kept some pictures, took some notes and told us "approved"

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interview was a breeze. The IO officer was very nice and friendly. We were out in 15-20 minutes. But let's start with the beginning:

Our appointment was at 1.45 PM. We arrived at 1.15. At the entrance, we were asked to put all our stuff, including shoes, belts, keys, cell phones, in a plastic trey that went thorough the scanning machine. I had a bottle of water in my pocketbook and the security guard told me I needed to throw it or take it back to the car. He also asked to see our appointment letter and our IDs - we both showed him our driver licenses. After that, we were sent to a room where another man checked our appointment letter and gave us a nnumber. We were directed to another waiting room. We waited for half an hour and finally they called our number. The officer was very friendly. He asked for our IDs again, our interview letter, my passport and my I-94. That's it!!!!! nothing else!!!!! He probably got scared by the huge binder on my lap!!!!!! and the bag of copies my husband was carrying!!! He sworn us in and then he checked my husband's information - date and place of birth, his SSN, his phone number and his signature. The officer asked him how we met, my husband said "online", and again, that's it!!! No further questions about it, no more prompting for details, nada! Then it was my turn to get the personal information checked - the same as my husband, but he asked me to verify my parents' first names. Then, he said, "OK, let me approve you", and started clicking and typing. Finally, he explained the process of removal of conditions, printed me a paper with the whole explanation and the dates we need to apply for ROC, and we were out of there! Easy, breezy!!!!
