Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

The interviewer was polite, but all business. We were a bit surprised by questions that pertained to information supplied in our original petition (e.g., the interviewer asked to see our emails to each other, and photos taken during my visits to Kenya), but when we replied that those documents were in the petition (which was in front of the interviewer on her desk), she was satisfied. Photos from our wedding, showing the two of us with family members, were a key part of the interview. Everline's immunization records were incomplete, so we were given a form to take to a civil surgeon, and advised to return in person w/ the completed documents. We got that done on Friday and Monday of the following week (these civil surgeons are sketchy; if all you need are a couple of jabs, it's best to call ahead and make sure they won't force you to pay for a high-priced exam--we got scammed). I returned the following Tuesday with the physician's envelope. An immigration officer examined it, and... read complete review

We traveled 3 hours in a severe snow storm to get to our interview not knowing if the would be open. Once we arrived there was no on street parking because of the snow storm we had to park across the street and pay $40.00 we had our 2 month old daughter with us. we entered the building went through security check point and proceeded to rm e160 to check in we presented our appointment letter for interview and they ask for birth certificate for our daughter and asked were there any arrest reports to submit.

The interview was quick and painless, and we were approved on the spot.

We had prepared a whoooooooooole bunch of documents and brought an album full of pictures, postcards, etc, etc, but the only thing that the officer (who was Chinese and fast/efficient) asked for was some pictures.

He also asked how we met, what we were doing right now, where we lived, confirmed our information (address, phone number, ssn, etc.), and where our families were. Just basic easy stuff. I (sponsor) had started a new job after submiting the application, so I told him about it and gave him a newly updated I-864 with supporting documents (paystubs and letter from employer).

When we told him that my husband was looking for a job, he didn't even take the EAD or AP papers just in case the green card didn't arrive in time.

All in all, it was quick and easy. The officer complimented us on organizing our application very well, saying that it made thing... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled at 7:30AM. Surpriseingly, when we got there 5 minutes before the appointed time, a lot of couples were already waiting there.
There were 2 people to interview us. They were both very friendly. Though the computer wasn't working properly at the time, we were assured that all info will be keyed in on the same day.
And my residency was granted that day.
