I am the USC, I went with my SO and was present for the entire process, just showed my passport along with all the embassy appointment papers and they let me in with no problems. The actual interview/process was about 10 minutes max, with a few basic question, the rest was just waiting for them to call your number. After the second part of the interview they said the petition was approved upon results of the fingerprint check(?)and we got the visa 3 days later via courier.

Also, since I was in the UK (and had been for months before the I-129 approval)my Aff. Of Support was not notarized...I was nervous about this (as I would have prefered that everything was COMPLETE)but I was able to sign the Aff. of Support in front of the Consular (as it states you can/should do in the instructions, if you are not in the US) and there were no problems with this at all. This saved us a load of money as notaries in the UK are very expensive! So if anyone else out there is worried about ... read complete review

What can I say? It was as easy as the good folk on here say it is.
Interview was at 8am. I got there for 7.40am. It was all over by 10am.
Was only asked for the usual documents. Birth Certificate, Police Report, etc.
I'm taking my son who has a different name but I was never married to his father. Had relevant documents from the HCMS Family Division stating I have sole parental responibility. Wasn't asked for any documents in relation to this. Swore on Oath. Paid the fee and that was that.
All in all a pain-free experience.

A pretty smooth experience, although the waiting times certainly do test your patience. Arrived outside embassy at 9.20am for 9.30am appointment (there were people there trying to get in for 11am interviews and they were being told to come back at 10).

By the time I got into the embassy it was 9.40am. The guy on the door asked me for some odd form with a photo on it, I told him I didn't have a clue what he was on about. Turns out that is needed for non-immigrant visas so I was OK.

I guess I was waiting about 40 minutes to be called up to the first window. Gave affidavit, birth certificate, police certificate and 2 x photos. Was given my X-Rays and told to pack them in my suitcase when I go to the US. Went to pay the $131, returned to the window and was told to take a seat.

Probably another 40 minutes later I was called around for the interview with the US consular official. Had to raise my hand and swear the oath etc. Straightforward questio... read complete review

Hi guys

I had my interview today, and am now approved!! Yay!

I got there at 7:45, and there was already a moderate queue. A ploceman asked me what time my i/view was,I said 8am, he said ok. Then waited, for about 5 mins and got to security, who asked for my passport, letter, my belt, phone & ipod, and put it in a plastic bag. Then you go through the metal detectors, before which you are asked your name from anotehr security guard.

Once security checked, you follow a path through to the entrance of the building whre you are asked to show your letter again, and given a barcode with a number on it.

Then you wait in the waiting room for your number to be called - I waited about 20 mins, as I was 5006 (all immigrant numbers start at 5000), and they did most of the non-immigrant numbers (1000's) first.

Then the lady checks your docs (they already had mine from the NVC, so nothing else was needed from me), ask me a few... read complete review

Everything ran pretty smoothly. Following the security checks I actually got in through the embassy doors at 09.45am for my 10am appointment. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and very polite and I was treated with respect. I had collected a lot of information together to prove an ongoing relationship with Jeff, but they didn't even request to see that, I guess the fact that I have flown to the States four times in the past 9 months negated the need for paper proof. I left the embassy at 12 midday, just 2 hours after my appointment time, I was so pleased to be told my visa had been approved. Overall it was a very positive experience, as far as interviews go (much easier then being grilled at Seattle immigration following a 10 hour flight).
