My fiance waited for about 4 hours and eventually when he was called, he said the interview was only about 3 minutes or so...he didn't even have a chance to show photos and the interviewer only asked a few questions, and he was in! He was told he was approved but we are waiting for the visa to be in his hands!

So I set off from home at 6 am thinking thats plenty of time to get to my interview at 9 am. Traffic was particularly bad, parked the card in Hammersmith caught the tube to Bond Station and ran in my 3 in heels and coat with all my paperwork to the Embassy.. I felt a million bucks.. NOT REALLY.. so thats who are having interviews soon.. the 9 am is just a guide line.. dont panic if you are little late.
Went through the line and metal detectors, was told to turn right.. I turned left.. got a telling off.. MAKE SURE YOU TURN RIGHT and go around the building.. you have to get a ticket, which i did and waited for hours for my number to be called.. THINK ARGOS.. its the same set up.. hundreds of people in 1 room waiting for their ticket number.
When my number was called went to the window the man asked for the documents, I think i was more on the ball, giving what he needed before he prompted.. sign the forms did the finger prints... paid the fees and went ... read complete review

My Wife, my Son and I arrived in line outside the embassy at 6am! My wife was determined to me first in line.
We started our journey from home at 5am, missing rush hour, circumventing the congestion charge and parking deep under Hyde Park.
It was rather cold that morning. My son (21 month old) refused to cover himself with his trusted blanket as we pushed his buggy toward Grovenor Square. It seemed he decided today of all days to start his terrible 2s early. My wife and I feared it would be a rather long day for him.
On arriving outside the embassy, we query a security guard as to where we should stand. The queue barriers created a snake of many mouths. He directed us to a standing stop with a wry smile. He soon left for home as his late arriving relief took over. Not before expressing his disgust at his colleague’s time keeping.
As time went on, the queue grew behind us. As the queue grew, my Son’s patients begin to diminish. Impatience ... read complete review

Although currently staying just outside of London since our lease expired last week, my wife and I booked a hotel room near the US Embassy to avoid any risks of traffic or public transport delays or potential G20-related disruptions (which, by the way, there were not). We stayed at the Milleniuem Mayfair at Grosvenor Square, literally just 1 minute from the building, which was quite nice and reasonable priced for London from the rate we found on Lastminute.com. This was also convenient to leave our electronic devices and other belongings at the hotel.
When we arrived at 7:30 AM, there was a queue of about 20 people ahead of us who were slowly being let in. I was admitted without any problems although I had previously sent an email to the US Embassy to confirm it would be OK to accompany my wife for her visa interview. Once past security, we entered the building and were assigned a number. After waiting about 20 minutes, interview windows began to open up and numbers were... read complete review

And so is the story of a very strange day in my life...
I arrived in London about 7.30am and headed to the Embassy. On the way I passed 'Goulds Pharmacy' - which is a place you need to go to drop off any electrical items you have about you. The Embassy don't allow things like camera's, phones, i-pods, even head phones... so if you have these, just take a visit to Goulds Pharmacy first. It costs a flat fee of £5 to store your belongings.
My appointment was meant to be at 8.30am, but I joined the queue and they didn't mind that I was early.
After lining up I passed through 'security' which is just like the airport, but a lot less stressful. You can keep your shoes on for a start. You're in and out of there pretty quickly.
From here it's just a short walk around the building to the main entrance. I walked there with a scruffy looking guy with long grey hair and a Led-Zep T-Shirt... it turns out he was a roadie with 'UB40' - and ... read complete review
