Appointment was at 9am and my fiance was there a total of 3 hours.

They took his nail clippers away as it was "sharp object." He tossed it. I told him not to worry I would buy him new nail clipper.

They asked him following questions.

How did you meet?
Which website did you meet on?
What are her family ties to Serbia? (to which he answered my father is)
Where does her mother's family come from?
Why aren't you settling in Britian?

Then she said that she would be happy to give him visa as soon as he gets document retranslated. Not sure what the exact issue was with his current translated- other then they need two docs from Croatia and both translated. I guess both translation sounded too similar. Hmmmm.... I don't know.

I was a bit worried as he was treated poorly in 2006 trying to get visitor visa (before he was UK citizen). But he said this time they were friendly and the woman i... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My appointment was at 8:30am and unlike all the people who seemed to arrive incredibly early, my husband and I only arrived just on time. He’d barely slept and my stomach had been in knots so it had been a difficult morning!

We found the embassy easily as I’d checked where it was after my medical exam and we joined a long but clearly marked queue for visa applicants. Several officials were checking those in the queue to make sure we didn’t have any electrical items, weren’t wearing any metal items (belts etc had to be removed) and that we had invitation letters. I had emailed the embassy to inform them my husband would be joining me and received a reply confirming he would be added to the ‘list’ for the day, but no-one seemed to check any list before they let him through! When we got through this queue, the invitation letter was checked yet again before we even stepped foot into the security booth. Our bags and we were x-rayed and then we went through. We fol... read complete review

My interview was scheduled for 10am, so i arrived just before 9 to be on the safe side. I was in the waiting area just after 9. I had read from a lot of people that I should bring a book, but to be honest, it was way to hard to concentrate with numbers being called out every 30 seconds!! So I gave up on the book. I had a long wait, cos I wasn't called to the first window until 10:45. I had to hand over:

2 passport photos
Passport
Birth Certificate (+ copy)
Police check (+copy)
I-134
2008 Tax Return
Employer Letter
Recent bank statement (showing stocks and their values)

I then had to give finger prints, and pay the visa fee at the window right beside mine. When I returned, I was given back my X-Ray and given a pink slip to fill in for the visa courier, and told to return to the waiting area.

My next wait was only for about half an hour, when I was then called up for my interview. I was as... read complete review

It was no problem at all for me (Mary, the USC) to attend John's K-1 interview with him at the London embassy. They merely looked at my passport in the security line, and then wrote my name on his interview letter.

We were issued our appointment number at 7:38AM for an 8:00AM appointment. Apparently, the immigrant visa issue numbers have changed; they're no longer the 5000 series. We were assigned I854 and there were three others ahead of us, the first being I851. (Non-immigrant visa applications all had numbers that started with N, the first of the day being N100. There were a few other applicants who had numbers that began with E or D, but I have no idea what kinds of visas those were.)

We were there early enough to see them opening up for the business day, starting up the monitors, raising the window shades, etc. During the two hours we were there, they called over 100 non-immigrant visa applicants to the windows, so they were definitely busy.

Everything went well and actually was a lot quicker than I thought! My appointment was for 10, cleared security by 9.45 and was out by 12. I just found it a bit difficult to hear the first officer I dealt with. The room was really busy (as it always is I guess!) and it didn't help being near to a giant fan, plus her accent was a bit difficult to understand. Another personal thing - I really didn't like being questioned by her as to why I was on antibiotics - it doesn't really have anything to do with the visa!

I was shocked when I was called for my interview so soon and had to gulp down the cup of tea I'd just bought. The guy I dealt with said "Lets get this done quickly cos I know you've been waiting for a while", I said "It was faster than I thought". Very nice guy and over and done with in about 2 mins.

My only real issue is the fact that I had to go all the way down to London when there's a US Consulate in Edinburgh!!!
