My interview was scheduled for 8am. I arrived to the embassy at 7:10am and there were already about 20 people ahead of me queuing. An english lady did an initial sweep down the line at about 7:30, telling people what they could and couldn't have with them. I had arranged to leave my phone and music player elsewhere, and luckily none of my keys had an electronic fob, as those also were not allowed which caught out a fair few people. The rule was anything that "has a button" is not allowed, I would advise against anything with circuitry (watches are fine).
The same lady then did an initial sort though person by person, and checked again that everyone had the correct items. For this I needed the appointment letter and passport only.
We then moved on to an american security guard, who checked the exact same paperwork. We were then ushered through the metal detectors, and had our bags scanned. I was asked to taste my water.
Once we were through t... read complete review

I arrived at embassy just before 8am. A security officer checked my passport and appointment letter and asked me to put my coins into a plastic bag, and take off my belt. At the head of the queue, I was called forward and another security officer checked my passport and appointment letter. We were then called into the glass security building in groups of four and given our security check.
I carried a laptop bag containing a document folder and a bottle of water. After walking through the x-ray machine, I was asked to drink some water to prove it wasn't in any shape or form a danger to public safety. After this I proceeded around the perimeter of the building and up the stairs leading to the main embassy building. Inside, I was given a sticker that was loosely attached to the appointment letter. This indicates your ticket number, and time of entry into the building. From joining the queue and entering the building it took me about fifty minutes.

Very quick and easy. I did not have my long form birth certificate, which includes parents details, so they took everything else and gave me a list of things to send.

I was nervous about the interview from the time that we received notification. In the end it was a breeze, the questions were simple, we were interviewed in Los Angeles, downtown, we arrived at the stated time of 8:30 am, which is crazy because it took an extra 45 minutes until we were seen. The officer was casually dressed and polite, he really just asked questions that were on the forms, nothing intrusive. Questions that I remember- to my wife: When did you meet? What does your husband do for a living? what is his father's name, to me: what is your wife's full name, what is her date of birth, then he left for a second and asked us to lay out our proof of bona fide marriage, utility bills etc, he looked though them real brief, kept one insurance form, asked how come we didn't have photo albums, we had a few printed photo's, approved right away, maybe 7 minutes inside the office.. Also my phone rang during the interview with a Tupac ring tone, he was a little pissed, but no big deal, w... read complete review

My interview was for 8am. Got there mega early at 6:45. One hot chocolate later I was back at 7:05. There were now two people in front of me. At about 7:30 the security came out.
At reception I was given my number I900 which was stuck onto my appointment letter. I was the first ‘I’ number. Rows and rows of seats to choose from. There were only about four of us in the room at this point.
They started calling the ‘N’ numbers first at probably just before 8. About 10 mins in I’m called to window 14. They had my file. I could see my daughter’s medical and my medical docs and underneath was the K-1 pack that Ricky had sent in. I was then informed that they didn’t know where the papers were that I sent in with the IV checklist (charming!). Luckily, I had copies of EVERYTHING with me including all the DS forms etc. Gave her what I had she took it and made copies for their files. I signed where she told me to sign (I don’t think I s... read complete review
