Got there and got in. Got called after a few hours. Officer said 'how did you get in here - you don't have an appointment - how did you get past security'
Showed him the appointment letter. Apparently they had re dated it but I left home before receiving it. Anyway he went and spoke to a manager and then I got my interview and he allowed it. He actually gave me an unconditional GC visa as I was so close to the 2 years and would be over it by the time I landed.
I was crumpled as we had booked flights/accommodation - everything
I couldn't recover from all the on and off stuff and the despair for a year
The whole Gc was incredibly stressful. Never again.

My fiance's interview was 17 June 2010 at 8am. She arrived at 7:00 am, and was the 3rd in line. She was called to the first window after 20 minutes. The second window called her about 45 minutes later. It was all over by 9am and she was approved! Now we are just waiting on the courier for next week (hopefully).
The only affidavit of support (Form I-134) evidence that was taken from my fiance was my 2009 tax transcript. The rest of the evidence (about 3 more pieces of information such as bank and investment statements) was glanced at, but not requested. Other than that, she supplied her birth certificate, divorce decree and police certificates (Poland and UK).
The first woman she met took the original and photocopies (and took fingerprints). The second woman who called her to a different desk returned the originals to my fiance. The second woman also took fingerprints (right hand only). And my fiance swore the oath before the second... read complete review

I only live an hour's drive from London but stayed at my Sister's in Harrow so I could just jump on the tube. Got to Goulds Pharmacy at about 7:30, left my phone & saw another VJ couple interviewing for a K1, so we kind of stuck together in the embassy. Got into the fairly short embassy queue, through security (remove belt, sip water etc), and follow the signs to the lobby where I got number I-907, not too bad.
The waiting room is long with a row of back-to-back screens in the middle & rows of chairs either side facing the screens. The big glass windows at front of the embassy run along one side of the room, with the post-office style ‘interview’ windows along the other & a snack bar at the far end. The courier desk is along the left wall as you walk in, with more interview windows down a short corridor off the main room.
There were only a few people waiting when I made it into the embassy but the room quickly filled up, and just got busier throughout... read complete review

I'm writing this on behalf of my other half.
His experience was not much different than most. He stressed about what documents to take, and what questions they would ask, how he should dress and so forth - but the interivew itself was short and sweet.
The waiting was definitely the worst part of it.
First window, nice lady, asked to see his paperwork (he took duplicates of everything we sent to NVC, plus additional paycheck stubs from me, and a copy of the biometrics page of my passport). She asked him a couple of questions, retrieved his medical, and told him to go to the next window when called.
Next window - lady looked over the paperwork, and asked 3 questions:
1) What industry do you plan on working in, in the U.S.?
2) Do you plan on living at your wife's residence? (Honestly, who would answer "no" to that?
3) How long has your wife been at her job? (FYI - he got this answer WRONG)

I had my interview on 02/06/10 at 8am. I arrived at the embassy for 7:30am which left me with more than enough time to be inside by 8am.
Everything went smooth, was there for 2 hours but probably only seen for 10 mins in total. I accidently had left a USB stick in my handbag so I had to throw that away. Luckily it didn't contain anything important. The first lady that saw me was not overly-pleasant and was basically just there to do her job. She asked me for David's tax return so I then had to remind her that I didn't need that since he's not self-employed. The second lady that I saw, was really sweet. It was almost as if I was telling our story to someone I knew. I'm glad it's over and after 5 years of back and forth we'll finally be able to be together in 3.5 weeks' time on a permanent basis! :D
