Our interview was issued on the 4th of january 2010 for the 4th of february 2010. We booked a room at the kensington rooms hotel for 3 nights for the price of £225 "breakfast" included. We were put in a quiet room so there wasnt much noise from the streets or rooms around us.
We took the train from Skipton to Leeds then to Kings Cross London Station (£176 super off peak return for 2 adults), then took the picadilly line underground 10 stops away to Gloucester Road. The hotel was only about a 10 minute walk away from the underground.
The morning before, we decided to take the bus to the embassy to see how long it would take to get there. The bus stop is right across from the hotel, and we took bus #74 to marble arch. The embassy is about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop. From there we walked down South Audley Street and found a nice tea room for breakfast about 2 minutes away on the left side. Right next door is a pharmacy where we got my 2 passport pi... read complete review

Thank you to all VJers who have helped us on our journey. I arrived at the embassy early (at 7.50 for a 9am appointment) and dropped my phone and car key at Goulds who were excellent. After going through the security checks, I entered the embassy at 8.15am. I was given an I number but all the numbers being called were N - do not get disheartened, your turn does arrive. I noted that I numbers were being called to two windows for initial interviews and two different windows for later interviews. There were only 9 people ahead of me and I was called about 1.5 hours after arriving. The first lady asked for my passport, birth certificate & copy, police certificate & copy, two passport photos (Uk size), my divorce certificate & copy plus I134 completed by my fiancee. With the I134 she asked for 2009 tax return & letter from current employer. I then paid the fee (which I was told should now be paid online prior to interview - new change this week, I should have received an email?), returned r... read complete review

First off I have to say, being prepared is the biggest asset for this, I cannot thank everyone enough for the advice on this site.
Arrived into the area just after 7am (8:30am appointment), sad to say (but kinda poignant in a weird way) McDonald's for breakfast. Gould's opened at 7:25 as there were about 3-4 other people waiting for pictures. Those guys in that shop do an amazing job, to turn around photos in under 5 min with a smile at half 7 in the morning, fantastic.
Queue was decent enough, minor panic attack when everyone was holding barcode slips but soon realised that they were non-immigrant entrants. Breezed through into security & into the waiting area, you cannot stop yourself from looking up everytime a number is called.
I was the second I number, & was called 15 min before due time. Another minor panic when the guy asked for a copy of my birth cert as well as the original along with the fiance's tax return. Very brief & good chat... read complete review

I arranged to stay in London for a few days with a friend. My interview time was 9am. I left my friend's house at maybe just after 7:30 to leisurely walk the ~45 minutes to the Embassy. I arrived at Grosvenor Square and slowly walked around the garden in the Square towards the Embassy. I observed the scene and at first it was a little confusing, as it looked like there were two different queues. But of course the second queue was just those who'd gone through the first queue. So I got in line and waited. At this time the line wasn't too long. At some point I got to a notice that said electronic devices were not permitted inside the Embassy. I was already aware of this, and had taken great care to leave my mobile etc. behind. (Which wasn't nice as my friend and her roommates didn't get home until late, so I had to hang out in the British Library for a while and wander back and forth in the cold with no way of contacting them to find out when someone would be back. But hey haha.) However... read complete review
