We arrived a little past 7 am for our 8 am interview. (There was a tube strike on, so we booked a cab for 6:30 am just in case traffic was bad.) There were four people in line ahead of us and they let us in after maybe a 30 minute wait. Even though we'd wisely left our cell phones at home, I had forgotten that I had two used AA batteries from my camera at the bottom of my purse, so that held us up an extra few minutes, but everyone was friendly and it was no problem. We were given our number and waited for about 20 minutes until it was called.
We went to the window and a very officious woman of few words took N's fingerprints and asked for our forms. She handed back a lot of them, which I'd expected (we figured rather safe than sorry and had a lot of things that were helpful but not required), but we were both surprised when she didn't ask for our co-sponsor forms. (I didn't make enough in the last year, so my father was co-sponsoring us.) N said, "Here's my sponsor, and... read complete review

Our interview date was Monday, 25th October 2010. When sending all the required documents we requested 26th or 27th October, but the interview was scheduled for 25th... I am not sure if that was a coincidence or they did not want to be "too accommodating". Anyway, we did not receive a reply to the email asking if the interview can be re-arranged and ended up cutting our travel plans short to be in London on 25th.
We (myself, my son and my fiancé (US citizen)) stayed in a hotel just outside London and took a train to the Bond St. station in the morning. On our way we went to the Gould's pharmacy to store our mobile phones and then to a cafe for a quick breakfast. Our appointment was at 9am. We arrived at the Embassy (queue outside) at approximately 9.10am. After about 20 minutes we passed the security and received our I-number. As it later turned out we were the last one that day. We waited till approximately noon before being called to the first window where all our documents... read complete review

So.. after months of waiting... finally got our interview date.. October 12th, 2010.
We got there at 9 am.... waited until 1200pm to actually see the first person in the process.
We handed over the required docs, (police certs, birth certs etc)...
Then it was another 1 hour wait to be interviewed... which was suprisingly light and cheerful.
The officer spent most of the time talking with me.. and making jokes. It was done in like 5 minutes...
Best advice i can give.. if you can make it to the interview (petitioner) GO!! It makes it so much easier on your loved one... plus it makes it clear of your intentions... and that they are genuine.\

In total I was in the embassy for 2 hours....most of the time waiting for my number to be called. My wife (us citizen) came in with me, but couldn't come to the window. You get called up twice. I was asked several basic questions about when and where we got married and where we intended to live. No drama, quite speedy. I did notice though other people took a lot longer...by the time I was at the desk to pay for the courier I was in front of a couple who started their interview 2 hours earlier
