May 8th - Took the train on Tuesday afternoon from Warwick to London Marylebone (we booked with thetrainline.com) and our fares (round trip, off peak hours) were a combined total of £20.

 May 9th *Interview Day!*

05:00 -Alarms went off, got picked for snooze (ha hah like we were going to sleep!) and they went off again as we lay in bed discussing what we thought might happen.

05:15 - Up, eating breakfast, drinking tea and doing all that grooming and dressing jazz.

06:00 - Decided that was a good time to start going through the paper work again since Mark wanted me to quiz him about questions we might be asked, and also show him the DS-230 part 2 again (that part with all the yes/ no boxes) etc. It was at this point that I realized that I'd left the spare copy of it at home on the desk. I cursed and said we'd have to try to print out a copy at Gould's and fill it in while we're in line and waiting----all this just in case the e... read complete review

90m queue. 3 hour wait. 3 minute interview in a standing only, bank teller-like setting. easy breezy.

My appointment was at 8am, and people were already starting to queue up from about 7.15am, although noone from the embassy came out until about 7.45am. The forms were checked, bag was put through the xray maching, and I made the short walk to the Visa part of the embassy to get my number. (Be sure that you have absolutely no electricals with you on the day...a few people were caught out as they had car keys and headphones)

Once in, I took a seat and waited as they started to call the N-numbers, and an I-number every now and again. After about half an hour I was called to a window, where a nice British lady was waiting. After checking my details, she went off to get my file, and after initially not being able to find my medical results, which hadn't been put with my file, we got going. This 1st interview was more of a chat to make sure all the forms were there, and to let me know the processes when I enter the US. I also mentioned that we're expecting twins, which she sai... read complete review

My interview was scheduled for 9.30am. We set off in time for me to arrive at 7.30am to be completely sure I wouldn't be late. Good job we did. One wrong turn by my father plus London traffic and we only just arrived at the Embassy by 9am, to be confronted by a HUGE queue and pouring rain. I barely made it to the information tent by the time my interview was meant to begin and that was only halfway down the line My advice: SET OFF EARLY, way earlier than you think is necessary. At the information tent I was asked to provide my Machine readable visa fee receipt and passport and appointment letter. These were all very safely filed away in my bag but getting them out in the rain and trying to keep them dry was very difficult. If you can have these three documents easy to hand it would help. I made it to the front of the line with minimal rain damage to my documents.
I have been to the Embassy before so I knew all about the security procedures. For those who haven't been, you can't... read complete review

My appointment was booked for 9.30 and I arrived at the embassy at 8.50. Showed my appointment letter to a lady stood outside who directed me to a man stood by a small building. He checked my appointment letter and passport and I was asked to stand outside the door to what is the security area. The door opened, 3 of us were called through, bags, paperwork, belt on the scanner and through the archway, just like at the airport. I was asked if I had any electrical items (which I didn't, I'd left them at the hotel with my luggage). I was through the door, round the side of the building and inside the embassy where a lady at the reception desk checked my appointment letter and put a sticker on it, telling me to take a seat in the waiting area and listen out for my number. (The time on the sticker said 8.55.

I took a seat in the waiting area. There were a lot of "N" numbers being called out. Lots of kids going off to do camp America for the summer. The "I" numbers were few an... read complete review
