I got to the embassy at 6:40 am and waited for Goulds to open up to store my phone, etc.
At 7:30 I was back at the embassy in the que that consisted of ME.
At the front of the line a lady checked my name off and I waited until called forward by the guard.
At 7:45 I was inside the embassy with number I901. Still just me in the waiting room that holds over 300.
At 8:00 am sharp the screens booted up and 2 more people came in. My number was called, I was the first person called.
I went to booth 14 where I was welcomed by a cheerful English guy. He went through the paper work, took my fingerprints, gave me my chest xray cd and the pink slip for the courier. He asked me if my wife's job had changed, if her income had changed. I said no and that was it. He said this could be quick as only booths 16 and 17 are open for the day. Off I went back to the seating area it was 8:15
I filled in my pink slip and at 8:32 I wa... read complete review

Turned up in plenty of time for 09.00 interview, advised as queues developing already. Left all electronics including phone and car keys at left luggage at Euston, people were still being turned away not realising these are no permitted. Queued for about 25 minutes before going through security and into embassy. Once in got issued number at desk and then waited to be called to first desk, about 30 minutes. This was over quickly, handed in documents and answered a few questions then told to await second call. Another wait of about 30 minutes and I was called up to the second desk for interview, very brief, asked some questions about how we met etc and was then told no problems approved. Paid for courier on way out all done and dusted in about 2 hours give or take. No worries.

If it's wet take an umbrella as you have to wait in line outside first before being granted entry. No ELECTRONICS/PHONES allowed. You must have your passport, appointment letter and Visa Payment form with you or they will not let you in.
Once inside expect a wait, a long wait. The first time you get called is to go through your paperwork. The next time you get called is for interview. Both of these things are held at little booths, like bank tellers. Just be yourself, try not to worry and it should all be fine.
The guy who did my interview was really nice and friendly and it was a quick and relatively pain free process. After being told I had been approved I went to the courier desk to pay for (£16-£37) and arrange what time of day I wanted my passport with visa stamp to be delivered. And that was it...I was in for about 3 hours and spent 15-20 minutes of that doing visa stuff, the rest was waiting!! Like I said, expect a wait...bring a book.

Apart from a 45 minute stand outside in the rain the actual interview process was pretty much as I expected. It's a pain not to be allowed mobile phones or I players but the local chemist down the road (Goulds I think) looks after them for £3. Interview was scheduled for 8.30 and I left the embassy with an approval at about 11.40.
Take something to read as sitting waiting can be boring, although you can buy snacks, tea coffee ect.

I'm the US petitioner, my fiancé is the UK citizen. We took some advice from the forums here and wrote the Embassy to ask if they'd do the K1 interview during the week I was in the UK. I wasn't sure the request would be granted, but to our luck it was. They sent an appointment letter for 8am on May 29th. Upon receiving it, my fiancé wrote again specifically asking for them to allow me into the building on the day. That was at my urging since I wanted to be doubly sure I'd be on the entry list.
We went to London the day before the interview, spent the day out and about, and then had a get together that evening with friends. The next morning we were up very early for the interview. Our hotel in Paddington held our bags for us, so we didn't have to bother with the pharmacy thing for our electronics. Someone ahead of us got turned away for having his phone on him, so be careful about this as others have said.
We showed up around 7:30am, and there was alrea... read complete review
