My interview was scheduled for 8am on Friday September the 7th 2013. I had requested the earliest time possible on this date and they obliged. I woke up at 5am and left my house at 6am after to travel from my home on North London to Bond Street Tube station which is a 5 minute walk from the embassy. On the way I got wen’t past Goulds pharmacy and checked in my phone and got some breakfast at the place next door. Then walked 100 yards down the road and joined a queue of about 25 people outside the embassy at 7:30am.
By 7:45am they started letting people in and I was taken through security 5 minutes later. They asked for my apointment letter, MRV receipt and Passport. Its unbelievable how many don’t read the informatuion given to them and got sent out because they didn’t have the correct documents and still had there phones on them. By 7:55 I had checked in where they ask for the apointment letter, MRV receipt and Passport once again. You then sit in a waiting are... read complete review

The embassy was really crowded, and the security measures are high, so you can't take much with you (including phones).
However the process was organised, and the interview was very quick.
In the end I needed original signatures and some tax forms for the affidavit. So the visa was denied... Or I should say pre-approved. Basically the man at the interview said that whenever I have the forms I need from my in-laws I need to post them with my passport and then they will give me the visa - no need for another trip to the embassy. He also put a sticker on my passport with a code - presumably to speed things up when I send them my passport.

I personally did not go so I can only report what my husband told me. Basically the person they dealt with was rude and shooed (sp) them away when he was done with them. There was an issue with his son's paperwork (everything was there) but the guy refused to look at it -- said he would look at it later on. Husband left with his approval and not one for his son.
Today, five days later, both visas showed up. I am extremely grateful that they were both approved -- however - the manner in which they were treated was not very professional or nice.
I understand where children are involved they have to be very careful -- but just be nice people. We have spent a lot of time and money in this process --

Here's a overview of my interview that took place on August 23rd. My interview was scheduled for 9.30am.
I stayed overnight in London the previous night so I could get to the embassy early knowing how the queues build up quickly from the reviews I've read. I would recommend doing this if you can afford to. I stayed at the Rose Court hotel - about 10-15 minutes walk to the embassy.
I arrived at Gould Pharmacy around 6.50am so decided to walk over to the US embassy and get an idea of where to go - one of the security guards told me they start letting people in at around 7.30am. I walked back to the pharmacy and they opened round 7.10am so I dropped off my mobile and headed straight to the embassy.
We were told to wait outside the room where the airport-style security scanners are located. My interview letter was checked and then another wait. At just after 7.30am we were sent to a guy who checked over my passport and interview letter. Then it ... read complete review

We had our interview yesterday at the US Embassy in London. It went pretty well and we were approved. We expected this as we have been married for almost three years, together for three years before we were married, and are expecting a baby - but you never know, right? One piece of incorrect paperwork or a not nice officer and you can be on your way out the door!
I am the US citizen and my husband is British. We have a bit of a unique case - we started our IR-1/CR-1 visa process in Singapore, where were were living and working. I won't review the Singapore Embassy because the case was actually handled through the NVC and we didn't have much direct contact with the Singapore embassy. Our case was transferred to the UK as we left Singapore in July. It is worth noting that it took the NVC one month to transfer our case from the NVC to Singapore. I had emailed and phoned them asking them to send our files to London, they weren't able to do this although I had given them 6 ... read complete review
