8:15am -- Arrived at the embassy ahead of my 9:30am appointment, and was immediately directed to the shorter of two lines which had formed outside the security offices immediately outside the embassy building itself. I was handed a small plastic bag in which to deposit my phone, belt and watch.

8:25am -- After showing my appointment letter and passport at the head of the shorter queue, I was then told to join the back of the ever-growing second line.

8:55am -- Showed my DS-160, passport and appointment letter to a member of staff immediately outside the security office before being called inside (groups of 4) the office where you undergo the same security check you get at any airport.

9:00am -- Enter the embassy proper, show appointment letter and passport again and received a ticket number from reception which was stuck onto the appointment letter. This is where I lost track of the time as I spent every few seconds glancing up at the screen... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We’re K1/K2 applicants but, as my son is only 5 (and a monkey!) I decided not to bring him with me to the interview.

I stayed over at a nearby hotel the night before, didn’t sleep particularly well as was too nervous, so ended up in the Starbucks just round the corner from the Embassy at 6am. Finally got to the Embassy at 7am (my appointment time was 8.30am) and started queuing with everyone else behind these trolley type things that they wheeled out. Some Embassy workers walked through the queue asking us to have our passports, DS160 printouts and appointment letters ready for checking, and handed out plastic bags for mobiles and tablets. They also told the men to take off their belts and empty their pockets. When I got to the front of the queue the lady wrote ‘IV’ on my letter and checked both mine and my son’s names off her list.

I then had my paperwork checked again by a security bloke before heading into the airport-style security hut (they ... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

We filed for my husband's CR1 visa starting with the I-130 using Direct Consular filing on 22-May-14. Our interview was on 1-August-14 and we received the visa back from the courier on 7-August-14. We have only positive things to say about the whole experience. We used this site to gather what we could in advance, were ready for each "next step" to keep the process moving along, etc.

On the day of the interview, I was listed on the readiness form to accompany my husband but was not on the official list. I was denied entry. They told my husband when he was inside that that was a mistake. He decided to complete the process on his own instead of waiting for me. He was there a total of only 75 minutes - it was very quick and friendly. They asked about how often we saw each other while dating, how we met, basic questions that any couple will know the answers to.

If you have all of your documents in order - the process in London is a breeze! It is str... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

First and foremost, my hats off to all the good people on this forum who have provided their reviews. Reading those proved to be quite helpful.

My wife (beneficiary) and I, have arrived at the Embassy around 7:20am. Our appointment was scheduled for 8am. There are two security entrances located in the front of the Embassy - about 25 yards apart. The one on the left is for Citizen Services and the other one is for Visa Services. When we got there, there were maybe 20 people lined up in front of the Visa security entrance. We didn't join them, but rather waited to the side for a new line to form. Sure enough - just as it was mentioned in the past reviews, security personnel came out at 7:30ish with podiums on wheels. They were placed in the middle of the two security entrances. People were then asked to line up behind either ones accordingly. We were the first ones to go through the security. Once inside, we got our ticket numbers, set down in the waiting area and w... read complete review

My appointment was at 8am and I arrived at the Embassy just before 7am. There were about 15 people scattered around the waiting area between two small, beige security huts. At around 7.20am some people came out dragging what looked like small blue podiums on wheels and others dragging big signs on wheels. (Do NOT wait in any line that may form in front of the security huts! Just wait between the security with everyone else! Once these blue units are brought out start to position yourself in front of THOSE, the one for US Visa’s was positioned on the LEFT, this is where the line will start!) Also please note, any persons who had later interviews were made to form in a different line and wait for the previous time slot to go through first.

They asked us to have our Passports ready and opened on the bio information page, have our interview letter ready and our DS-260 ready. Once we were checked we were sent to another line that was forming in front of a staff member and g... read complete review
