My wife's appointment was at 8am. We hadn't planned it that way, but due to the embassy rescheduling the interview, I happened to be in London that week. I didn't go inside the embassy but I tagged along and waited at a coffee shop around the corner.

We arrived outside the embassy at 7:15am. There were about 20 people already waiting in an organized line (those brits do love their queues!) At 7:20am on the dot, embassy staff came out and split the line in two: 8am appointments to the right and later appointments to the left. They then checked that everyone had their passport, interview letter, and DS-260 confirmation. One person who didn't have one of these printed out was sent away. My wife went through security at 7:30am.

Inside, her passport, interview letter, and DS-260 were again checked and she was given a number (I9xx). She was inside the waiting area by 7:40am.

At 8am they started calling numbers. Hers was called within 5 minutes. At... read complete review

I arrived at the Embassy at 07:50 for an 08:30 appointment, the lines had already built since there were earlier appointments than mine. There are three lines, left for Immigrant, middle for none immigrant and right is where the NI go to queue for security.

The immigrant applicants go to the front of the line at security so you won't join the huge line. The rules on what you can take in have now been relaxed so mobile phones and tablets are allowed and lots of people are taking them in. It helps to relieve the boredom. If yuo want to learn more check the Ambassadors video from the USEmbassyLondon you tube page. He explains it all there (it was released september 2014).

I was into the main area by 08:20 which is a huge waiting room with secure booths down one wall. Tea, coffee, food is available from the front.

It took about 80 minutes before I was called forward to bring up my paperwork and have fingerprints taken.

I then ... read complete review

Very fast and efficient. One guy was friendly, the other a little brusque. They didn't seem interested in all the evidence we had compiled showing that my wife intends to re-establish her US domicile (after 20 years in UK). The only glitch was when they informed me that the visa would only be valid for 6 months from the medical date, not the interview date. This is stated somewhere on the consulate web page but we had missed it. Had to do a quick recalculation of whether I could get clear of my UK commitments in time. But no problem. Emerged at 9.15 am very happy!

My appointment was at 9am however I decided to arrive very early just to be on the safe side. So I reached the embassy at 7.15am. There was already quite a lot of people (30ish) in line and at about 7.30 the staff separated the queue into those who had an appointment at 8am (who were given priority) and everyone else.

After going through security (the button next to the door is a light switch NOT (as I believed when I pressed it) the button to unlock the door), I was issued a ticket by the reception desk. I then waited about 5 minutes before my number was called. The very lovely man at the window took my documents, asked me a couple of questions (such as when I was flying to the US) and told me to take a seat.

15 minutes later I was called up again - this time to speak with an American woman who told me this was the interview. For some reason I felt a bit nervous and when she asked me when my fiance had last visited my mind went blank and I completely fo... read complete review
