Wife had interview this morning at 8am.
Points to note:
- They ask to see interview letter and DS-260 confirmation print out. We didn't have the latter, but that was absolutely ok.
- We had ticked 'I understand that one person may accompany me to my visa interview. He/she is my spouse, fiancé(e), parent, adult child, carer or interpreter. He/she must present photo ID on the day of the interview. ' on http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness.html but that wasn't enough to get me in. Apparently you have to also email the embassy to get on the list, and even then they prefer if you don't come because you don't need to be there.
- They hardly asked any questions at all, just checked the forms and approved.
Good luck!

Had my interview yesterday morning at the Embassy in London. My appointment was for 8.30am, but I arrived mega early at around 7.15am! They hadn't "opened" yet, but there was already a line forming so I joined. At about 7.40am, movement began and two girls dragged out some signs and visa people lined up in front of one, and other appointments the other. They then split the visa line into people who have 8am appointments and everyone else. They came round and passed clear plastic bags to everyone and said to put phones, belts and watches in it ready for security (note: laptops are not allowed in.) A girl walked down our line, and saw me and another guy had immigrant paperwork, so she told up to jump the queue!
A girl (this is still all outside in the cold) checked my passport and interview letter (they asked us to get our DS-260 conf out, but she didn't check it.) Then joined another line. Showed passport and interview letter to a security guard type man. Then joined anot... read complete review

So i arrived outside the embassy at around 7.50 for my 8am timeslot to find a queue of about 20 people, shortly after some of the staff came out and split the queue into 2 lines, one for 8am appointments and a line to the left for anytime after 8am. There were a couple of girls walking around handing out clear plastic bags to put phones and belts into. After showing my DS-160 and passport to the girl outside she ticked me off the register and sent me to a 3rd queue which was the line to go through security, another guy checks your appointment paper and passport and then adds you onto the line. Every 2 minutes or so a security guard comes out and calls for 4 people at a time to walk into the small room with a scanner just like at the airport you dump everything in a tray and walk through, once out the otherside you follow the signs for the visa area and go up the stairs and inside where youll meet the receptionist who looks at your DS-160 and passport and gives you a sticker with a numb... read complete review

My wife had an 8:30am interview at the US Embassy in London. The website says to arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to your appointment, as they will not be able to admit you due to security concerns. However, we arrived to the embassy at 8:10am to find a MASSIVE line to get in. They informed us that we would not be in the embassy before her interview, but that the appointment time didn't matter, as long as you show up that day. There is an initial line you will wait in where they will check either your DS160 (Non Immigrant Visa) or your IV package (Immigrant Visa) and passport. After these are approved, you are sent to a second line to enter the embassy.
I was able to be with my wife today as I am in the UK, however, despite being a US Citizen I was not allowed into the embassy because I was not on their "list." They informed me that if you wish to bring anyone to your interview, you need to book that with the embassy prior to the interview. Not a huge deal, just a... read complete review
