Ok, so my appointment was 9:30 but I got there super duper early at like 6:50 since I'd heard immigrant visa appointments would be dealt with whenever they turned up. Luckily, it was to be the case, though I had to ask about it when they started dividing the lines up. That started happening at about 7:30. When I was passed over to a man holding an invitation list, my name didn't appear to be on there and he was confused, but I was still allowed in anyway
Security was painless, just went under a metal detector while my bag was scanned through an x-ray machine. After leaving the security booth, I followed the signs round the corner to the front door of the embassy.
When I got in, there was a reception desk. The older woman sitting there took my letter, put a sticker on it saying I901 (first ticket of the day :D) and then I turned left up the stairs to the waiting area.
It was about 7:45ish when I got in, so it was quite emp... read complete review

Ok, I had my interview today and was approved! Everyone was lovely and it went so smoothly.
I got there just after 7 and was about 4 people into the line. Getting there early REALLY pays off because when they began letting people in I was about 5th into the embassy and I was the 2nd I09 (immigrant) visa interviewee number of the day. They did make separate lines for those pre/post 8am slots but said immigrant visas could go in the pre 8am line.
That meant that as soon as they called people up to the desks for the first admin-y stage (just before 8am) I was seen super quickly. The (British) guy was very friendly, he had my whole file in front of him and chatted away. After fingerprints and document collection I was all done. I remember sitting down and looking out the window and seeing the now HUGE queue outside the embassy, it really is worthwhile getting there early.
After about 40mins I was the first I- number to be called for the 2nd s... read complete review

Writing this while waiting for my train in Euston so it might be a bit waffly. I apologise. My appt was 9.30 but like an old person waiting outside the hairdressers I got there at 7am where there were the obligatory 20 people before me. Seems whatever time you get there, there are 20 so I suspect they are plants.
Outside, asked for passport, interview letter and ds260. The interview letter and passport are most important if you want to have them in some kind of order. You show these three times, the ds260 only once at the first checkpoint.
Anyway, got in the embassy at 8.10 first cr1/ir1 there (# i901) and was called to pre processing around 8.20. Fingerprints, took courier information, checked documents, took two photos and was given one back. Asked when I was planning on flying out (dec 2nd) and why I'd added another name to my passport that wasn't on my birth certificate ( confirmation name, it's a catholic thing, and I started using it after my mother died because t... read complete review

I arrived outside the Embassy at 8am for a 9 am appointment.
The external queues that go to the initial check tent placed outside of the gates were already long but moved quickly and with no fuss.
Going next through the security hut and then into the embassy itself.
The London visa room is huge with more than 20 service windows (25?).
After about 30 mins I was called to the pre-processing 1st window where all my documents were checked.
I then waited for about 1 hour and was then called for the main consular interview.
I have to say now that this is my second visa and both times the staff I met at/in the London Embassy were professional and friendly in their approach.
Sadly this did NOT extend to the interviewing officer this time who initially grunted what I took to be "good morning" at me - without looking up ...and that set the tone of his attitude...
He questioned me really aggressively about when I last actually met with my ... read complete review

I had my interview on 12 November at 8am. I arrived at 7am to ensure I was right at the front of the queue for my visa type. there were already 6 people in the queue before me. I received the number of I-902 (second in queue for my visa type). I highly recommend you get there an hour early to ensure it all goes as quickly as possible once you are inside.
Once they started moving people inside, I was called up to the first desk outside. I handed over my appointment confirmation letter and my passport. I had forgotten to print out my DS-160 confirmation page. Save yourself the heart palpitations and do that. We were moved to the security check, which is exactly like an airport security check. Quick and easy and painless.
You will enter the embassy from the right side of the building (the right side when looking at the building while lining up). There is a front desk where you hand over your passport and appointment letter again. The people on the front desk ... read complete review
