Everything went smoothly. It took in total 1 hour 45 mn from getting the ticket, checking my documents, fingerprints and interview. The interview itself took 6 mn. Just basic questions about my wife.
Very important: For SOuth Korea immigrants, provide the appropriate Police Clearance (the one that includes your expunged records as well), the NVC will not notice that that part is missing. While the lady was checking my documents she required the proper police clearance. VJ saved my life since I read a topic concerning that issue just some days ago and I re-issued my police clearance with the proper information.
I'm so happy !!! Good luck to you all !!

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

I had my interview last Friday. I was there early, and picked a number. I was number 6. After I was called to the window, I had to submit all the papers on my checklist. I had everything with me. Since, my wife is employed in Korea, I used my mother in law as a joint sponsor. She send me the I-864 and her tax return, and proof of US citizenship.

They called me a while later, because I forgot to submit proof of my wife's domicile in the US. It was in my bag. It was our bank account in the US, her drivers licence, and letters that was mailed to our US address.

After I paid my $230 fee, I waited for my interview. Two or three people before me were refused, for not having all their documents, on the checklist, so I was very nervous.

Once I was called for the interview, the consular officer started asking me some questions like where we met, and where in the US my wife was from. He also asked where we were in the US last summer.

We were told our appointment was at 8:00 on 12/19. We should up at the embassy at 7:20 and there were already 2 people waiting in line (I guess for work visas). Even though it was freezing cold we lined up too and were the first couple to submit our paperwork at a little after 7:30. When you first go in you have to surrender your phones and they give you a ticket and you go up to the third floor. (The same floor that you submit your petition). You take a number and sit in a big room with lots of windows where all the workers sit (kind of like the DMV). IMPORTANT: there's a checklies that you will be sent with packet four. Bring this checklist and submit the documents in the order that it says on the checklist. There is also a counter where you fill out a courier form so a guy who works for the embassy can deliver your visa and forms to you at a later date. You keep the first page and submit the rest of the form with your paperwork and checklist when they call your number.

As soon as I applied for an interview date, they emailed me back in a few hours and set up a date for a few days later. But I had to reschedule due to work schedule conflict so I ended up going to my interview a month or so later. The rescheduling was done by email and I had no problems with changing the interview date.

I was very nervous for my interview but had a positive experience. I got there a 15min earlier than stated. They asked for my appointment letter and passport outside at the window before I was admitted inside. As soon as I got inside, I had to surrender and electronic devices such as my ipod and cell phone. I put all the contents into a basket and was given a number card for my basket.

Went up to the second(maybe third) floor and took a seat, waiting impatiently for my name to be called. When they finally did, I handed the lady the required documents. She quickly and very professionally looked over the entire packet removing any unnecessary... read complete review

Extremely easy, maybe five minutes in total for the interview after waiting two hours for my name to be called. The interview was fun. The only problem was on my end because of difficulty getting a fingerprint police check sent from Australia. That was sorted a few weeks later with no problem.
