I sent packet 3 back on the 27th January, on the 2nd February I sent them an email asking if they had received my packet 3 and if they had set me an interview date. They replied to my email within the hour saying that yes they had packet 3 and they had sent out packet 4 that day and my interview was on 10th February at 8.45am. I freaked as I still hadn't had my medical
I left Glen Eden at 7.30 thinking I would have plenty of time as my appointment was at 8.45am. As it turned out at 8.47 I was sitting outside the consulate on the wrong side of the road stuck in traffic, thank goodness my daughter was with me so I jumped out of the car and she drove it away to park it.
The security guard was very nice, asked to see my passport and took my cell phone and put it in a locker, giving me a yellow card with my locker number on it. He advised me to go to window 3.
When I got inside there already was a couple at window 3 and a few other people... read complete review

My interview was for 10 am in the morning and have to travel 4 hours to get there so i started out very early on in the day, Auckland tends to have a few busy times with regards to traffic, early morning and late evening, so i gave myself an extra hour to deal with that and finding parking.
parking itself in Auckland is pretty easy, alot of parking all over, just look for the big blue and white parking P's and follow the arrows. i managed to find a place just a few mins walk away from the embassy.
the embassy itself was nice as easy to find, has a big american flag sticking out of the building. walking in there was three elevators, one seemed reserved for consulate business but i was told to take one of the other two elevators to the third floor. As soon as you step out of the elevator you are confronted with security and you move to your left and line up and wait to be admitted. I arrived ~45mins early and it was not... read complete review

The US Consulate staff are great! The interview was a breeze, I was there for about 1 1/2 hours, but it was mostly waiting. The first lady came and got everything she needed from me, gave me some stuff back that she no longer needed, got the envelope (make sure you buy a big one as they need to fit the envelope we have to present at POE in there) and told me I could go for a coffee if I wanted to, my interview with the immigration officer would be about 20 minutes later. Oh, she also gave me a copy of my vaccination records to take to the US in case I they ask for it come AOS time. The immigration officer didn't see me waiting so I ended up waiting about 30 minutes or so. She was really nice, and just talked to me while she went through all the paperwork. There weren't really that many questions. I think it took about 10 minutes, at the end of which she told me that they would process the visa the next day (Friday) unless there were any problems and it would be in t... read complete review

We went through security quickly (they seem very nice if you show up with a baby!!) and went straight to the window. The lady came and we progressed our paperwork bit by bit. One thing they asked for that I didn't have was a copy of my CV/Resume. I did however have a copy of my university degree, and my Project Management qualification, so that seemed to suffice. This was all very smooth and easy enough (except for the poor lady and I trying to complete some maths sums without a calculator). The lady was very pleasent and talkative and made me feel at ease. After the paperwork she ran through the process of the POE.
We then sat down and waited to see the Comsulate officer. After a bit of a long wait (but seemed a lot longer as I was worried my csr would be towed!!)we were ushed into a separate meeting room (also a bit of a worry).
The Consulate officer was very nice, and all he wanted to know was how (logistically) we planned to get over there (as we have ... read complete review

My interview was at 9.30am in the morning. There was a queue at security but it processed pretty fast, I had to leave my handbag with the guard and just take my documentation through with me. Most of the queue were non-immigrant visa applications so I had the immigration counter window all to myself.
Once inside it took about 15 minutes before someone came over with my file. The lady went through my file checking that I had filled in all the forms, there was another person watching her and it seemed like she was in training.
There was some problems with getting my fingerprints done, it took several attempts before it worked. There were also problems with my passport photo, the photos I'd had taken in the USA weren't good enough as they were too far away, luckily I had some that I'd made myself to take to the medical etc so those were used instead.
I was asked for my sons birth certificate, even though he was not travelling with me, I didn'... read complete review
